It is not a commonly categorized trade where building construction is been concerned. But, it is quite common in projects such as road construction. The earthworks are generally among the first tasks in the construction. It’s generally undertaken in following:
Excavation for foundations: It is generally done to reach the more stable ground. The excavation here will either be in a form of trench, mass, and pad.
Soil stripping: It refers to the removal of the top vegetative soil of the construction site. The soil is not suitable for the construction, particularly because it has the rich constituent of the vegetative matter that will destroy the building's foundation. The soil is unstable for construction purposes.
Landforming & scaping: It is the process of making different shapes and forms with the use of the soil alone and in combination with different structures like the revetment walls.
Leveling uneven ground: It is generally the process of cutting & filling.
