The new Star Wars Episode 9 trailer included a laugh track you may’ve recognized. You probably reacted to the end of the first trailer for The Rise of Skywalker like Han Solo right after getting un-frozen from his carbonite block: “I know that laugh.” But we won’t know what it all means until the movie is released, right? As it turns out, JJ Abrams, director of this Star Wars film, was more than happy to lend additional confirmation to the hint given in the trailer.During the Star Wars Celebration 2019 event in Chicago this month, Ian McDiarmid appeared onstage. He didn’t just appear onstage for a Q session for Star Wars in general. He wasn’t just there because he’s one of the most important people in the entire Star Wars universe (thus far, anyway).
Overwatch players are getting access to another map, and it’s called Havana. The game’s beautiful rendition of Cuba’s capital blends a mixture of classic architecture with modern technology, offering Overwatch players the style they’re familiar with while keeping the game fresh. The new map is available to play on the Public Test Region (PTR) now.The new Havana destination is an Escort map, one featuring a bright and sunny daytime setting filled with old cars and beautiful street art.Blizzard has released a trailer that gives players their first look at the map — the version that will soon be live in Overwatch, that is.According to Blizzard, Overwatch players will be tasked with escorting the payload through Don Rumbotico’s distillery, which is briefly shown in the video above.
Universal Pictures dropped a second trailer for the studio's forthcoming Hobbs and Shaw, the first spinoff of its wildly popular Fast and Furious franchise. It looks like it will be the perfect summer popcorn movie, with ludicrous over-the-top action, Idris Elba stealing every scene as a cocky super-soldier, and the lovable, wisecracking duo of Hobbs and Shaw putting aside their differences yet again to save the world. The first film in the series, The Fast and the Furious, debuted in 2001, and it focused on an undercover cop (the late Paul Walker) taking on a group of car hijackers led by Vin Diesel's Dominic Toretto. It earned more than $200 million worldwide against its relatively modest $38 million budget, so the film was followed by seven equally successful sequels and two short tie-in films. This juggernaut shows no signs of stopping: the ninth and tenth films are already in development, slated for release in April 2020 and 2021, respectively. We're now getting a bunch of spin-off movies, too: up next will be Hobbs and Shaw, and there are perhaps as many as three others in development, including—if Vin Diesel's Instagram is to be believed—a possible film focusing on the franchise's most popular female characters.

Oh, so The Boys isn’t fucking around, huh? That’s the vibe oozing from this new NSFW trailer for the upcoming Amazon series that’s executive produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.Based on the Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson comic book, the show is about a world where superheroes are so popular and untouchable, a special band of people has to come together to put them in check. So, yes, that was a woman crushing a dude’s head with her legs. And yes, that was another guy miming a sex act with a dolphin. It looks like this eight-episode first season of The Boys is pulling no punches, and that’s exactly what we were hoping for.
David Attenborough and a variety of scientists from around the world are to address the nation on the issue of climate change tonight, as the BBC prepares to take ownership of the debate around the menace formerly known as global warming and make everyone believe it's real via a programme it calls Climate Change – The Facts. You'll want the Blu-ray of it.Several trailers have already been released by the BBC, which show the programme concentrates on highlighting weather changes and their effects that we're already seeing today as a result of increasing global temperatures and more random and extreme weather, as the planet gives us its own sort of teaser trailer about the climate apocalypses to come, should we not get this greenhouse gas business sorted out pronto.Attenborough will say there's a massive need to get the people of the world doing a bit more than occasionally remembering to turn a light off and not leaving the tap running while brushing teeth etc., and warned: "In the 20 years since I first started talking about the impact of climate change on our world, conditions have changed far faster than I ever imagined. It may sound frightening but the scientific evidence is that if we have not taken dramatic action within the next decade we could face irreversible damage to the natural world and the collapse of our societies."[BBC One via Radio Times]
Oh golly does the new trailer for “Child’s Play” look good. Not only does it have appearances by Aubrey Plaza, Mark Hamill (as the voice of Chucky) and Bryan Tyree Henry (who’s awesome in Atlanta), but it’s giving Chucky a smart home makeover. The demonically possessed doll now has the power to control networked devices like thermostats, drones, doors and pretty much any gadget in a connected home (from the looks of the trailer). However horrifying the thought may be of a demon-possessed doll — imagine the damage it could do by taking over your trusty Alexa.
Respawn Entertainment finally revealed the first official Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order trailer during this year's annual Star Wars Celebration event. And while the official reveal gave us a lucrative taste of Jedi: Fallen Order's storyline, Respawn was a bit sketchy on details surrounding the title's actual gameplay mechanics and how combat would work.During the Jedi: Fallen Order panel, Respawn teased that the game would require "thoughtful combat", but what exactly does that mean?Well, thanks to a follow-up interview, we may have a better idea.Best PS4 games: the PlayStation 4 games you need to playMost anticipated games: upcoming titles for PS4, Xbox One and Switch
For a few months each winter, Canada’s Tibbitt to Contwoyto Winter Road is the world’s longest ice highway, a 300-plus-mile network of frozen lakes that connects lucrative diamond mines in Canada’s Northwest Territories to supplies from the nation’s not-quite-so-far north. Each December, as Canada’s many northern lakes develop thick frozen patinas on their surfaces, engineers from Nuna Logistics survey and develop that year’s route.Semi trucks loaded with diesel fuel, cement, and mining supplies sally forth from Yellowknife—the northernmost town with reliable overland roads en route to the mines.Building the ice road costs about $15 million Canadian dollars each year, but it’s well worth it.Without ice roads, mining companies would have to rely on helicopters to get their gear north, which would obviously cost much, much more, and be far more subject to inclement weather. The trucks themselves increase the rate of entropy.
Convoy, a trucking and freight marketplace that connects shippers with carriers, has announced a new service designed to streamline load collection using preloaded trailers and Convoy’s transport network infrastructure.Touted as a “drop-and-hook” marketplace, the new Convoy Go offering has been in pilot mode for a couple of years ahead of today’s nationwide U.S. launch.Founded in 2015, the core Convoy platform serves as an on-demand marketplace to connect truckers with companies that need to shift cargo from A to B.It effectively matches supply with demand and streamlines journeys so the nearest available driver is matched with the most appropriate load. With Convoy Go, the Seattle-based company is going a step further in its mission to expedite load deliveries by reducing the wait time for truckers from three hours to less than an hour.Drop and hook is an established process whereby a carrier drops an empty trailer at a shipper’s facility and collects a trailer of goods that has been preloaded — according to Convoy, drop shipments represent the majority of Fortune 500 company shipments.
The first trailer for "Dark Phoenix" since the Disney-Fox merger debuted on Wednesday, and provides a glimpse at what the "X-Men" franchise could look like under Disney. The trailer has a different vibe than previous ones, highlighting the movie's action and even humor.Walt Disney Studios' president of marketing has been promoting "Dark Phoenix" on Twitter, suggesting Disney could have greater influence over the movie's marketing campaign now.The "X-Men" franchise has a new corporate overlord, and we can already feel the effects. When Disney finally closed its acquisition of Fox last month, the Mouse House took ownership of Fox's flagship superhero series that has been a consistent presence at movie theaters for nearly two decades.READ MORE: Disney revealed the details of its Netflix rival, Disney Plus, including its price and release date
With Dark Phoenix, Fox’s years-long X-Men franchise is coming to an end and, judging from the film’s final trailer, the conclusion to Jean Grey’s story is going to be as devastating as it is long overdue. While the latest trailer features a number of scenes that we’ve seen before, there are a number of new glimpses of characters like Quicksilver and Magneto that further explain the situation leading to the X-Men making first contact with the force that gives birth to the Phoenix.Even though they’re working in coordination with NASA, travelling into space to save astronauts is something the X-Men are (judging from their lack of proper space suits) woefully unprepared for and when a freak accident leaves Jean in the vacuum and vulnerable to the cosmic energies hurtling towards Earth, the other mutants are helpless to do anything but look on in horror. The trailer also establishes that Jean’s “Phoenix” moniker is something that the other students at Xavier’s school come up with for her after she seemingly dies and comes back to life, suggesting that Dark Phoenix’s plot might be a little more grounded and less like the comics than Fox has let on in the past.Whoever Jessica Chastain is playing (we still don’t know) doesn’t apparently have a name for what Jean’s becoming, and from the looks of things, there might be a sequence involving Jean killing Scott Summers (again). No one’s ever been the biggest fan of live-action Scott Summers (he’s never had much to do), but it feels as if Dark Phoenix is getting dangerously close to borrowing ideas from X-Men: The Last Stand, which...would be less than ideal.
A bit more information about Rey’s parentage was revealed this week amid release of the New Star Wars 9 trailer. This movie, called Star Wars Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker, will be directed by J.J. Abrams, like The Force Awakens. In commentary this week at Star Wars Celebration in Chicago, Abrams lent some welcome insight into the future of the most important character of this trilogy. An interview with ABC News this week it was made clear that the answers given to the mystery of Rey’s parentage in The Last Jedi were not satisfactory.Kylo Ren is one with the Dark Side, after all – deception and deceit are weapons of his. When Ren (Ben) said that her filthy junk trader parents abandoned her and were dead in a pauper’s grave – that… might have been a stretch of the truth, at least.
