Welcome to the spiritual and cultural capital city of India, Varanasi. Varanasi is a city known for its rich culture, heritage, tradition and prodigy. The town is an ancient one that existed since God created the universe. The fragrance of incenses sticks, chants of holy prayers, the shrines, the calm and pure river Ganga, devotional hymns that distinguish Varanasi from other cities and is called the spiritual capital of India. It is a paradise for people who genuinely search for eternal calmness and peace.

The Ghats are of rescue for those wandering in search of divine nature. There are a total of 87 connected Ghats that is near draws a 10km arc line on Ganga riverfront connecting tributaries river Assi from south and Varuna from the north. There are individual stone steps that help people to experience the holy dip and clear all their evil. Dashashwamedha ghat, Assi Ghat, Tulsi Ghat, Manikarnika ghat etc. are few among the famous ghats. Most ghats are used for bathing, and religious purpose whereas ghats such as Manikarnika ghat and Harish Chandra ghat is used for cremation purpose. It is believed that there hold unique energy that surrounds the aura of the ghat. At evening, in the ghats of Varanasi, the Ganga Aarti is something electrifying to gaze at. The Aarti can be witnessed by both standing at the ghats as well as moving around the ghats via boats.

Varanasi is also famous for its ancient and antique temples. The temples are to be visited by crossing the narrow lanes of Banaras. The famous Kashi Vishwanath temple one of the oldest temple and is in proximity to Dashashwamedha Ghat. There are other sacred Hindu temples such as Sankat Mochan Temple, Bharat Mata Temple, Tulsi Manas Temple, Kaal Bhairav Temple, Man Mandir observatory, Nepali Hindu Temple and many more.

Besides the famous ghats and temples, Banaras Hindu University of Varanasi holds a significant place among India’s top universities. It is internationally accepted as one of the majestic university than span across 1300 acres land. It is also a habitat for Vishwanath Temple, Bharat Kala Bhavan, Trauma Centre, a world war two fighter plane and a silver plate Rolls Royce, so BHU is a must visit campus. Other than all the aspects mentioned above travelling in rickshaws around the narrow lane, walking in lanes alongside ghats, the marketplace for food, shopping etc. is what pulls the crowds.

Not only this but Banaras is a famous centre for silk sarees, sparkling jewels, carpets, stones in clay work, bangles, idols of Hindu or Buddhist Gods.  The streets of Varanasi presents the ever wonderful delicacies with a traditional touch for example snow cone, roasted peanuts, pehelwan lassi, Laing lattes, malai, Rabri, chhola samosa, laddoos of Sankat Mochan Temple, Banarasi paan at Ravidas gate, hamza chai, kheer Sagar, jalebis, Banarasi kalakand etc. But in the rush of the city, it is a must to watch the sunrise and sunset at Ramnagar Fort and gaze at the horizon far away while comfortably seated in the ghats when the sacred river meets the heaven.
