Apart from many other uses of Shellac, it is considered as one of the toughest natural primers. It is even used as sanding sealant, tannin-blocker, odor-blocker, stain, and high-gloss varnish. With its good insulation qualities and it can seal out moisture so it is even used in electrical applications such as the phonograph, and gramophone records. In the 19th century, Shellac was one of the best wood finishes so oil and wax finishes were replaced by shellac. These uses of Shellac increased its demand across the globe which ultimately increased the Shellac exporters worldwide.
