Ideal duration - Reaching to Muktinath is not an easy job and you need to the patient as well.  The trek takes around 11-12 days.

Route and travel - The starting point of the Muktinath Yatra is Kathmandu and will follow the Kathmandu – Tikhendunga – Ghorepani – Tatopani – Ghasa – Marpha – Kagbeni – Muktinath – Jomsom – Pokhara – Kathmandu route.  

Best time to travel - Though Muktinath temple holds a great significance, the erratic and harsh weather conditions of the Mustang region makes it a hard place to reach out.  The ideal time to go for this trek is between Februarys to September as the temperature doesn’t drop to sub-zero during this time period.

Difficulty level - As the trek to Jomsom Muktinath passes through the Annapurna circuit region, you need to push little extra for this trek.  It is a medium to difficult level trek that demands added physical and mental strength.

What all you can explore during the trek?

Though the ultimate destination of your Muktinath tour will be, of course, Muktinath Temple, the trek will let you explore all the en-route destinations.  Kathmandu, the starting point of the trek and also the hub of UNESCO World Heritage sights, offers many breathtaking places such as Monkey temple, Pashupatinath Temple, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Temple and many more.

On day two of the trek, you will be passing through lush green forests and cliffs to reach UNGA. A short visit to the small yet magnificent Himalayan village, Ghorepani, is also a part of your Muktinath tour package.

Marpha, Kagbeni, Kali Gandaki river, Jarkot village, Fewa Lake, Tatopani and Ghar Khola village are some other places that will come in your en-route journey to Muktinath trek.

The best way to go on Jomsom Muktinath trek is to hire a guided Muktinath Yatra package. As the conditions down here are not so favorable and terrains are tough, going by own is the biggest mistake that one can make and spoil the adventure of this trek.
