Omaha is very similar to Holdem in the way that it is played, as both variants involve community cards with which players must try and make the best 5-card hand. The only difference is that players are dealt 4 holecards in Omaha instead of the standard 2 holecards in Holdem. Furthermore the game is not as demanding on the deck, and so it is easier to deal and involve more players within the same game. Stud for example can be a difficult game to play because of the fact that players are dealt so many cards, and it can take quite a while to deal one hand in comparison to Holdem.
This means that Texas Holdem lends itself nicely to the face paced tournament structure, as it is so easy to run for the dealers. Therefore you will notice that the majority of televised poker tournaments will be Texas Holdem, because more people enjoy watching it and casinos are more than happy to host them. So in turn more people will start to pick up and play Texas Holdem before any other game because they are familiar with it because they have seen it on television before.
