How Does Sleep Affect Your Oral Health?

You probably have heard of beauty sleep but what about the sleep that repairs, replenish and restore your vital functions?
When you have had a bad sleep for a while, consequences are greater than just being tired during the day. There is a lot more to it.

When you have a good night sleep, your cardiovascular system and blood vessels are being repaired, allowing to distribute essential nutrients like calcium and phosphate to your mouth amongst others. These nutrients are basically what you need to strengthen your enamel which helps combat cavities and plaque over time.

You surely know that a good night sleep fights off infections but you probably have never thought about it applies to the bacteria in your mouth. A good immune system will be able to fight against the bacteria and will reduce the risk of getting teeth cavities, gum disease, and tooth infection.
