Automatic vs Manually Operated Garage Doors

If you hesitating between installing a manual garage door or an automatic garage door, (a garage door that is operated with a garage door opener which does the lifting and closing for you), then you will have to consider the following points:

- Manual doors are cheaper: it is cheaper to install as it doesn't require cables and motor. They are also cheaper in the long run as the cost to fix them isn't as high and incidents are less likely to occur due to the fact there isn't any motor or system that could break down.

- You will be given fewer design choices if you choose a manual door. Generally, manual doors will be rollers doors, as sectional garage doors are made of heavy panels making it hard to lift manually several times a day. This applies to material, look and colours.

- Automatic garage doors are safer. Most of sectional garage doors and customised garage doors have now a finger-safe feature and are less likely to suddenly fall down.

- Automatic garage door are more convenient: you can stay in the comfort of your car and open the door. This allows you to avoid the weather or getting out of the car with kids or pets in the car. Instead you can just smoothly going and out, hassle-free.

- Extra security: some technological features added to automatic door can allow you to be alerted when your garage door is operated and prevent hackers from trying to hack your door.

All in all, it's up to you and what you think is the most important. Talk to a professional if you want to know more about the new technological features that go along a smart garage and a smart home.
