Battling the ever-increasing threats of viruses

Computer systems have become a major part of mankind. Many jobs revolve around computer usage to create and store data that is usually very valuable to the company. Since this data is very important, it has to be protected at all cost, but this is becoming a more difficult task as we use the internet more frequently. Viruses and malware have become a major feature on the internet and sometimes find their way into our computer systems without our knowledge. Once in, these viruses can cause a lot of problems that can most likely affect our works. Some of the common problems caused by viruses include:

  • Loss of files: Viruses can delete our files permanently with no chance of getting them back.
  • Affect computer performance: Viruses can make a computer function slowly, making usage of the computer rather frustrating as it takes a long time to carry out simple tasks.
  • Mutate computer files: It can even turn computer files into formats that are unrecognizable by the computer, rendering such files unusable.

Traditionally, normal antivirus were able to solve this problem, but as we progress, new threats seem to be emerging, threats that these antivirus cannot handle. In the quest for security, new methods of dealing with the virus menace have also emerged. These new methods seem to have the necessary tools to cope with the new types of computer viruses. Some of these new methods include:

Advanced endpoint protection: If you make use of the internet, then you have an endpoint. An endpoint refers to the device that send and receive data over an internet connection. Since viruses are becoming more advanced, you cannot just rely on regular antivirus scans to detect threats in your device, especially since these viruses are in abundance on the internet. Just visiting certain websites is enough for these viruses to find their way onto your device. Advanced endpoint protection help check websites before you access them to test for viruses, and prevent them from entering your device. They also have valid up to date databases, to help protect you from the latest threats.

Advanced malware protection: Malwares seem to be more resilient than viruses and are usually more deadly. Like viruses, malwares seem to have become more prominent in computer usage especially when the computer involved is connected to the internet. Advanced malware protection doesn’t just scan your pc, it provides complete round the clock protection, working to prevent and stop on going attack. It even ends attacks that may already be on the PC, giving you complete security.

Advanced threat analysis: Cyber threats seem to have become more advanced in their attacks, meaning that they are no longer like the normal threats that we are familiar with. In such cases, our cyber security plan may not be valid if the threat is unidentified. Advanced threat analysis helps identify new threats, scan them and provide relevant information on the threats, giving security agencies an insight into the malware and how to solve them.
