ICloud keeps a Safari history even after it is deleted

A security expert discovered that Apple’s iCloud online service kept the history of visited websites through the Safari browser, even after it was deleted by the user.

Suffice to say that it is surprising to learn that Apple keeps this history via its iCloud data synchronization service.

The Forbes site gathered the testimony of an expert from the Russian company Elcomsoft who discovered this situation “by chance”, testing the functionality of an iPhone data retrieval application called Phone Breaker that he was in the process of develop.

Thus, Vladimir Katalov found that a folder named “tombstone” present on his iCloud account contained a year of browsing history supposedly deleted from Safari.

The Forbes reporter was able to confirm this information himself using Phone Breaker.

The retained history refers to the web addresses consulted with the date and time of their deletion.
