Eight Czech fans arrested for their drone flight project at the Euro 2020 qualifier

Police in Kosovo arrested eight Czech soccer fans who apparently planned to fly a drone carrying a pro-Serb banner during Saturday's Euro 2020 qualifier between Kosovo and the Czech Republic. Sports fanatics from all over the world can buy Czech Republic Euro Cup Tickets online to enjoy its stunning performances.

The Czech Press Federation announced that six men and two women had been arrested near the Kosovo capital, Pristina, where the match is taking place. The local police seized a drone, a Serbian flag and a banner with the inscription "Kosovo is Serbia", as well as fireworks and a knife, in two cars with a license plate Czech.

The Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the arrests took place on Friday and that the eight people, one of whom was also a Serbian national, were released on Saturday morning. Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in 2008, but the Serbian government refused to recognize the sovereign status of the new country.

Security measures are strict around the stadium during the preparation of the match, which begins at 15:00 local time (14:00, Paris time). Fans can bring flags to Group A play but many other items are banned.

An online group for Kosovo supporters, known as Dardanet, called on supporters to show "maturity and restraint," adding: "Any potential incident would harm Kosovo."

The population of Kosovo is predominantly Albanian. In October 2014, a qualifying match for Euro 2016 between Serbia and Albania in Belgrade was abandoned after the drone flying over the field. The drone carried a flag indicating that Kosovo was part of "Greater Albania" and was causing a massive fight between the players. Albania finally won a 3-0 victory by default.

In the match, Kosovo beat the Czech Republic 2-1. Patrick Schick opened the scoring when he finished a good shot, but Vedat Muriqi canceled it four minutes later and Mërgim Vojvoda completed the turnaround.

The victory meant that Kosovo was ahead of the Czech Republic and briefly outpaced Group A before England came back to the top by beating Bulgaria at Wembley. The win still gives Kosovo the advantage over its opponents in what looks like a two-horse race for second place qualifying.
