If you are a fan of pop music, I am sure that you must be having Shawn Mendes, Taylor Swift or Justin Bieber songs in your playlist. Have you ever heard the song titled Mercy by Shawn Mendes? Noticed how the song has a lot of pain and anger in it, you can even feel it yourself if you listen to the song on a loop. Music is an integral part of our everyday life; it can make us feel a tornado of emotions in a matter of seconds. It can make you happy and sad, angry and joyful, all at the same time. You can download pop music from youtubenow.

But do you know that music is changing consistently over time, and is becoming sadder? Or that’s what recent studies show.

Data scientists at Lawrence Technological University in Michigan- including computer science professor Loir Shamir and computer scientist Kathleen Napier- found out that the joy element in our pop songs is constantly declining. According to the research paper which was published in the Journal of Popular Musical Studies, the scientists analysed over 6000 songs of the Billboard Hot 100, which featured in the list in between 1950 to 2015. For those who don’t know, Billboard Hot 100 is the top 100 most popular songs that were released in that particular year and those song you can convert from ytb converter. The team used automatic quantitative sentiment analysis- an analysis which relates each word with the tone that it expresses- to study all these songs. They found out that our songs are getting sadder and angrier every year.

Anger was a persistent tone in the recent pop songs, and was the least present in the 1950’s music which was much more joyful. The study concluded that tones expressed in popular music change gradually and consistently over time. But it is not the music that is changing, its our taste in music that is changing. People nowadays prefer listening to sadder tones.

An Independent study was conducted by Natalia Komarova at the University Of California Irvine - after she found out her daughter’s horribly depressing playlist of music. She used a database called AcousticBrainz, to analyse the emotions in the songs that she chose to study. A half million songs released in the United Kingdom from 1985 to 2015, were analysed. However, the study produced the same results as the previous one. Hence the decline of happy tones in our music was quite evident. Convert any songs from yt mp3 converter.

It has also been found that even though anger, disgust and fear are quite prominent in our songs, they have become more danceable, which means that listening to these songs will make you feel a strong urge to get up and dance.

Researchers say that this phenomenon of decline of joy in pop music might be a reflection of our own life. The growing religious and political tensions, the stressful jobs that people do these days, is slowly wiping out the joy in our lives. This is reflected in the kind of music we like to hear. This is evident from the fact that Taylor Swift’s single Bad Blood- which scores high in fear, and Justin Bieber’s Sorry – which scores high on sadness, are one of the biggest hits in pop music.

Music can greatly influence a person’s mood. But it can also shape a person’s mindset. You need to change your music from time to time and download from ytbconverter in order to avoid from either being too depressed or on a sugar high.
