On the Environment, Indians Rooted in Nature Don’t Talk but Act

A video making an appeal to the world leaders to take concrete actions to tackle climate change by a climate activist Greta Thunberg has gone viral on social media.

Jet-setting across the world from one lavish conference to another, driving energy-guzzling vehicles and doing many more things that damage the environment, many activists don’t have much credibility to lecture others on environmental conservation.

However, the very same celebrities have rarely supported actual doers (and not talkers) of their own country, rooted in their own culture.

There are some people who have truly devoted their life to the environment and natural conservation.

A noted environmentalist from Karnataka who is known for planting and tending to 385 banyan trees along a four-kilometer stretch of a state highway between Hulikal and Kudur.

Having been born into a small village and with no formal education, Thimmakka with the help of her husband found solace in planting trees.
