How to Solve Equalizer APO not Working Error in Windows 10?

Fix 1: Troubleshooting Using the “Install as SFX/EFX” Method

  1. Head to the Configurator tool for the Equalizer APO. You can access this tool by searching for it on the Start Menu and choosing the appropriate result.
  2. Head to the Playbacks Devices tab on the top of Configurator.
  3. There you have to check all the devices that you are going to use with your computer. 
  4. Mark the box located beside the “Troubleshooting options” and then tap on the Dropdown menu located on the lower-right of the Configurator. Choose the Install as SFX/EFX (experimental) option.
  5. Now Save the changes and then close the tab using the Close button. 

Fix 2: Ensuring That The Enhancements are Activated

  1. Choose the Sounds option by right-clicking on the speaker icon located on the system tray. 
  2. Head to the Playback option located on the top navigation menu. 
  3. Now click on the device which is being currently in use and then choose the Properties option. 
  4. Go to the Enhancements option in the properties popup window. 
  5. Uncheck the box situated beside the “Disable all enhancements” option. ‘
  6. Hit the OK button and then launch the Equalizer Apo to see if it’s working now. 

Fix 3: Deactivate the Hardware Acceleration in Audio Settings

  1. Open the Sounds settings on your device by right-clicking on the speaker icon situated inside the system tray and then hit the Sound option. 
  2. Once the Sound window opens, head to the Playback menu on the top. 
  3. Now click on the device which is currently in use such as your headphones or speakers. Then select the Properties option and then click on the Advanced option. 
  4. Ensure that the Hardware Acceleration is unchecked. If you see that the option is enabled, then simply uncheck it and save your preferences. 
  5. Once that is done, hit the OK button.
