Playing Small Pairs

When you start to play poker, you are often told to play certain hands in certain ways, small Pairs being no different. Whether it is pocket deuces or pocket sixes, Different books set out specific ways of playing these hands, for example, when I started play poker แทงบอลสเต็ป 2 คู่. I was told that I had to raise big with big hands like pocket aces and pocket kings but to fold pocket deuces and threes because they were no good preflop they were always beat. Of course, if you want to succeed this is not the optimal strategy. To succeed in the game of poker, you have to mix up your play and keep your opponents guessing about what you're about to do next. That's exactly what you should be able to do with small pocket pairs from deuces to sixes, sometimes you can call in early position other times in early position you raise with the same hand, other times you fold. Everything in poker is dependent on so many things so you can never really tell what you should do until you are in the exact position and have all the required information to make the correct call. So what I can't tell you is exactly how to play these small pocket pairs in every position and every situation. In that case I would probably have years of research to do and would probably have to write a 1000 or more page book on it. So we will leave that for later shall we? For now what I can do is tell you all the ways you could play small pairs in the three position categories being; Early, Middle and Late Position. Bearing in mind there are a number of other factors involved in making your decision on top of these so be sure to research into those too. Poker is a really complicated game, be sure to spend a considerable amount of time on each tiny little detail. Learn from my mistakes. Now that you are a bit more clued up about what you need to do to make the right decision I will give you some rough guidelines on how you could possibly play small pairs. Other ways you could play it I am afraid are up to you.

PREFLOP

Early Position In Early position, the general consensus is that you should play tighter as you have more players to act behind you but there are other people, who just recently have questioned that style of play and are hailing the early positions as the new late position preflop, in the sense that people are under the impression that you steal from late position and fold the garbage in early position. This recently has become the exact opposite recently as early position players are now realising that their raises are more respected if they do it from early position than late, as now a late position raise is automatically labelled as a steal. Bearing that in mind, small pairs should be played in generally the same way as each other. Your aim is to basically flop a set or steal the pot. If not you should be out of the hand (Unless of course there is something at the table telling you otherwise). So from early position, the recommended play would usually be to call and see a cheap flop and try and flop a set. Otherwise, you could always raise to get heads up with a hand taking it to the flop which you are more than likely 50/50 or better. This is of course a risky strategy so alternatively you could just open muck your small pair and minimise the risk. Looking for the chance to be a bigger favourite going to the flop before trying to gain chips, or at least have position.

Middle Position

Playing small pairs from middle position is really hard to do because you really can't mix up your play with this type of hand in this position. Really you can't make any big plays แทงบอลสเต็ปขั้นต่ำ 2 คู่. I would probably recommend not playing small pocket pairs from middle positions unless you really know what you're doing. You really need to be honest with yourself about it though. It could end up losing you large amounts of money! So that leaves us with the question as to whether you're; Raising, Calling or folding, the factors you really need to add in here is whether the players behind you are raising most hands or playing really tight, if there has been any raises before you calling or raising or if you are the first person entering the pot or if you raise is your image tight enough to take the pot there and then or is your image so passive/aggressive you will get nothing but calls behind you? If you figure these out then you should be able to make your decision accordingly. It really does depend when you're in middle position.

Late Position

Playing from late position makes it very easy for you because you know what the players who acted previously to you have done and you most likely have three or less players to act after you before you see a flop. So that's increasing your chances you will see a cheap flop and possibly flop that set that you long for! The rough guidelines here really speak for themselves, if you have more than the BB or 10% of your stack or more to call then I would probably fold because at that point you need to be more selective about your hands. It's different if you're doing the raising! But if you can just limp to see a flop that is probably what to do, unless you see weakness on which you can pounce upon and win more money on. Really again it depends on so many factors. Many of which depends on your opponents actions.

POSTFLOP

Early, Middle and Late Position If you have hit your set here then you would have to decide on whether to bet it out or try and trap which does depend on how likely your opponents are to pay you off if you either bet or trap. If you are looking to hide your hand then you are most probably looking to bet out as people tend to try and trap at this point which leaves there hand wide open also. Betting out also protects your hands from possible draws to hands such as straights and flushes. The reason I have decided to put these all under the one heading is that is really the only thing you could do post flop. The only real differences to middle and late would be deciding to raise an existing bet or making the last check or electing to call an existing bet. Really these do depend on the factors of your table and who bet what and what type of players they are. Once you know all the information about your opponents, you should be able to make these decisions easily but every factor does in fact depend on what you know about the players at your table and what they are doing at any given time relating to what they previously done.

If you were looking for a set guide on how to play small pairs, I do apologise. There is no such thing. There are a few ways. If you are looking to be a successful, Profitable player, I suggest you use every way you could possibly find in different combinations. This will ensure you are unpredictable and unreadable. So there you have it. How to play pocket pairs, I would recommend that you keep brushing up on this subject among others to avoid getting caught in a poker rut where the ever changing game gets ahead of you.
