What are the Do’s and Don’ts of Commercial moving?

We all agree that commercial moving is tougher and riskier than home moving. Moving an office or commercial workspace is a time-consuming task and comes with its own set of challenges. Whether you are expanding, relocating to a better facility or simply moving on from your current place, office relocation is quite common but also difficult. Although it can be easy if you want to. There are some definite ways to facilitate the move, keep your employees happy and successfully move an entire office like a pro.

In this blog, we will discuss some of the Do's and Don’ts of commercial moving which will help you facilitate the mover successfully.

So here we begin!

Let us first concentrate on what you should do while commercial moving.

  •          Create a detailed move timeline, complete with task delegation
  •          Make effective communication positively with your employees. Communicate with them regarding the move. Engage them in the moving process and consider their ideas.
  •       Try to pack your items. Your files, discs, and wallets are the things that should be taken care of by you as most of the office movers are not responsible for packing these personal items.
  •         Try to hire full-service office movers for the better move and lesser stress on your shoulders. This is the most organized relocating method.
  •     Leave vertical cabinets full. They are easier to transport that way.
  •   Secure personal items such as money, computer discs and other personal items. Office movers are not responsible for the safety of such personal items.
  •    Have your IT department connect and disconnect your sensitive office equipment.
  •    Focus on labeling boxes. You must clearly label each side with contents and where they should be placed in their new office.

Now let us come to the what you must not do while commercial moving-

  • Do not procrastinate. If you don’t plan well, you might end up losing your valuable items. So, you must pre-plan things accordingly.
  • Do not wait until the last moment to inform your employees about the move. They will be disappointed if they find it out by someone else. It’s better to tell them directly.

  • Try to not forget any items on your desk. You must empty everything instead of leaving it there.
  • Plants need extra care. Do not leave your plants in a hot vehicle. Pack them in the last and unpack them the first thing after reaching your new office.
  • Do not use cheap packing materials while office relocation as cheap materials are on the risk of breaking or tearing. Use professional-grade boxes, bubble wrap and tapes. These materials might be a little expensive but they will protect your items and keep them safe.

  • Remember to not pack valuable things such as cash, personal disks and files into the boxes. These items should be kept with you safely.
  • Do not lift boxes that are too heavy for you. You might get injured while doing so. Taking care of yourself while commercial moving is the priority.
  • Try not to empty vertical file cabinets. They should be moved full.
