Creating a game is an art that requires both imagination and innovation and the best games in 2019 surely fulfill them both. The purpose of the game developers is to create a dynamic virtual gaming world and their dedication and art are showcased every year on the grand stage. Being appreciated with acclamation from the gamers and success in the market is everything every game dev desires. However, there is still an honor beyond all this, the Game of the Year award.

The appreciation was extended by Geoff Keighley, in 2014 by organizing the first-ever official gaming awards on December 5, 2014, known as The Game Awards. Since 2014, they are performing a consecutive annual award ceremony to honor the best game of the year. The first award recipient was Dragon Age: Inquisition in 2014, and the most recent winner was the God of War. • Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
  • CONTROL
  • Apex Legends
  • Untitled Goose Game
  • Death Stranding

  1. Death Stranding

One of the most popular games of recent times acclaimed by both gamers and critics alike. The game was released on November 8 2019 by Kojima Productions and successfully gained a nomination among the best game awards list. However, several criticized this game due to its adult content, however, it manages to be on the top of our list. We will findout on December 12 whether it retains its current position or not.

  • The Outer Worlds

The action-pack game that was released on October 25, 2019, by Obsidian Entertainment is being praised a lot by gamers and critics throughout the world. Soon, there will be a switch version of the game available in 2020, which is now in-making by Nintendo. Though it is a simple and small game still the game keeps the player entertained.

  • Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

The game is on the top of every critic’s list, though due to hard, decisive comparison, we kept it on third in our list. The game is set in a different universe comprising a magical version of the Japanese Sengoku Period. The game was released on March 22, 2019, by FromSoftware and must be on the top five 2019 gaming list of every critic throughout the world.

  • Gears 5

The game has earned a lot of reputation due to its predecessors, as it is the sixth version of the Gear series. The game was released on September 10, 2019, by The Coalition, and till now, it is loved by the gamers. The Xbox One X gaming experience it offers is outstanding and the story it depicts is unique as well. It has attained the fourth spot on our list and is a definite contender in the Game of the Year awards.

  • Resident Evil 2

The game was on the much-awaited list of gamers even before 2019, as it is a remake of the popular video game of 1998 by the same name. The developer of the game is Capcom and it released back on January 25, 2019. Several gamers thought the game would be similar to its predecessor, but Capcom proved that they only retained the name. The game is pretty hardcore and must be on the top five list of every gamer and critics.

  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

The game would have been nominated for the previous year awards; however, its late release in the initial period of December made the jury to consider it for the next year. The game was released on December 7 and is a popular gaming franchise from the Nintendo. The interesting fact that attracts the gamers to play the game was returning of smash characters along with several new characters. The players can also experience its new crowded battle and fast-paced mode.

  • CONTROL

Before the release of the game, nobody has ever heard the name Control. However, the game’s amazing specs helped it to achieve the Game Award nomination. The game must be included in the nomination list due to its stunning story and amazing 4k experience. The game was released on August 27, 2019, and is developed by Remedy Entertainment.

  • Apex Legends

The game is a terror for Fortnite as it is the best alternative of every gamer who wants to play a free battle royale. The game was released on February 4, 2019, and has been developed by Respawn Entertainment. With a notable name of its developer in the gaming world, the game was being criticized for its nomination, although we believe it deserves to be nominated.

  • Untitled Goose Game

The game acquired more popularity from social media rather than the gaming experience, as it has been the source of various memes and jokes. Although the gaming world it surrounds is based on a simple objective that requires less focus of the players but the game is one of its kind. Rareness and the popularity must be the reason behind its nomination and we have also considered it for the Ninth spot on our list.

  1. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (Honorable Mention)

The game is not on the tenth spot of our list as we have included it as an honorable mention. Unfortunately, it hasn’t nominated by the Game Awards due to its late release. However, the game must be on the top of everyone’s list and will possibly win the best game award next year. We included it as we find it’s the best among all on our list. The game was released on November 15, 2019, and has been developed by Respawn Entertainment.
