NVQ Levels in UK

NVQ levels are work-based qualifications which are recognised and awarded in the UK. The National Vocational Qualification in the UK is a government-regulated qualification which helps an individual to be competent to work in the industry. The NVQ qualifications focus on the practical skills and experiences necessary to mould an individual into becoming a professional in the field of work. In the UK construction industry, many professionals and employers consider the NVQ level qualifications suitable to qualify an individual to work onsite. The construction industry is continually searching for skilled labourers to fill the lack of construction workers in the industry. By promoting and demanding qualifications provided by the professional bodies such as the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the UK awarded qualifications such as the NVQ levels, the industry is inviting many candidates to join the built-environment sector to build a prosperous career.

Each NVQ Level qualifications is equivalent to a higher education level. For instance, NVQ Level 6 qualification is equivalent to a bachelor’s degree. On the other hand, an NVQ Level 7 qualification is equivalent to a master’s degree. Candidates who possess a level 7 qualification are eligible to apply for chartered membership status of RICS, CIOB or ICE.

NVQ Level 6 qualification

An NVQ level 6 Diploma in Construction Site Management is a suitable qualification to build a steady career in the construction management sector. Any candidate aspiring to become a manager onsite can achieve the skills and knowledge through the diploma and practice the skills to gain experiences in the field of work. A level 6 Diploma offers many different opportunities for a candidate progressing in the construction industry.

  • Opportunity to directly apply to become an Associate Member of RICS and advance to become an MRICS through the RICS APC.
  • Opportunity to apply for the MCIOB qualification of the Chartered Institute of Building. The Level 6 NVQ level will allow a candidate to proceed to the Professional Review.
  • Opportunity to be eligible for applying to CSCS Black Managerial Card.
  • Opportunity to advance to the level 7 qualification

The level 6 qualification enhances the candidate’s knowledge in the construction industry and provides them with a chance to become a professional with demanded skills. A candidate can obtain knowledge through online courses offered by online colleges such as the College of Contract Management in the UK. The online college is accredited by the CIOB, RICS and awarding body Pearson.
