After the government passed the Citizenship amendment bill, which goes against the notion of a secular nation and discriminates people based on religion, there have been voices of rage against the government, all over the country and there has been violence staged.
Students have been protesting in various parts of the nation, and universities like Jamia Millia had witnessed police attacks on protesters, and there were lives lost too. In Chennai, the Madras university students are staging protests, and yesterday Kamal Haasan had met them and expressed his support.
Today, the leader of Makkal Needhi Maiam has tweeted, requesting the Chennai police commissioner. His tweet read “My request is, to the Indian who is sitting on the Commissioner of Police Chennai’s chair. Please do not stifle Democratic voices to be raised at Valluvar Kottam today.”
