Southwest Looms is the exclusive licensee for Pendleton rugs. The Pendleton Reserve Collection is drawn from Pendleton and other historic blanket designs. For the first time, these striking designs are being produced as vibrant and lush pile carpets. The rugs are hand-knotted with approximately 80 knots to the square inch.
We use high quality New Zealand wool and colorfast Swiss Chrome dyes to produce a rug that will provide beauty and durability for your lifetime. The wool is handspun, yielding varying diameters, so that when dyed a delightful variegated color is achieved, giving the completed rug a richness and subtle blend of colors.
Since then, he has become a respected expert on hand-woven carpets who lectures nationwide on the subject. He has applied his interest in the art of weaving and his keen eye for color and design to developing several lines of carpets, including Pendleton Reserve, Arts & Crafts, Pendleton Classic, Dreamcatcher, Naturals, Indigo, and Santa Fe.
As a professor at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Doug spent several years studying kangaroo rats in Nevada…and a love for the textiles of the American Southwest was born. Southwest Looms is a realization of a dream for Doug: the chance to combine his in-depth knowledge of traditional weaving techniques with the rustic style and rugged traditions of the American Southwest.
