Chelsea news: Boost on Edinson Cavani transfer, Krzysztof Piatek bid, Olivier Giroud exit latest

The latest news from around Stamford Bridge ahead of transfer deadline day and as Chelsea and Frank Lampard prepare to face Leicester City in the Premier League. Chelsea was back to winning ways at the weekend as they overcame Hull City in the FA Cup. Football fans around the world can buy online Premier League Tickets to enjoy its stunning performances.

Their reward is a fifth-round tie against either Shrewsbury Town or Liverpool, with a replay coming up between the two sides. That tie is slated to take place in early March as for the first time ever fifth-round ties have been switched to the midweek slot because of the Premier League's inaugural winter break.

Up next though is the big game at the King Power Stadium against Leicester. But there will still be one eye on transfers. Deadline day is fast approaching and Chelsea is yet to make a signing despite links to the likes of Jadon Sancho, Ben Chilwell, and Krzysztof Piatek.

But all signs are pointing towards it being an exciting final week of January for the Blues and head coach Frank Lampard.

Edinson Cavani boost

Good news for Chelsea in their bid to try and land Edinson Cavani in January. The striker apparently has his heart set on a move to Atletico Madrid before the end of the deadline. But if the Atletico chief's words are anything to go by, that does not look likely.

Krzysztof Piatek bid

West Ham has reportedly made a £30m bid for Krzysztof Piatek. The Milan striker has been linked with Chelsea and Spurs in January, but Football Insider state that the Hammers are now trying to sign the attacker.

However, West Ham wants to do a similar deal to Spurs, in signing the Poland international on an initial loan deal that will become permanent in the summer - which has so far proven a sticking point with the Serie A side, who want a permanent deal in January.

Whether or not West Ham goes onto sign the striker is up for debate, but one thing that is not is his goalscoring ability. The French striker has been hoping to seal a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer after failing to earn a place in Frank Lampard's team.

And former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has been keen to bring Giroud to Milan in the January transfer window - but one thing was standing in his way.
