Is QLED better than LED?

When most people go out to buy a TV, all they care about is screen size & features. However, there is another thing that makes a TV worth buying, & that’s picture quality.

If you ask any electronics enthusiast about which TV has arguably the best picture quality, LED TVs will unanimously come out on top.

Their relatively well-spread pixel density, & encoded colour enriched pixels make up for a beautiful TV watching experience.

And let’s face it. If you aren’t even able to see what you’re watching properly, what’s the point of watching it anyway?

Many brands offer LED TVs in the Indian market: Shinco, Daiwa, LG, Sony, Philips, among others.

Among these, Shinco & Daiwa is top-notch LED TV manufacturers that offer their products at relatively affordable prices.

For people who want something even greater & a step ahead in picture-quality, there’s another segment of LED TVs, called the QLED TVs.

QLED TVs, or Quantum LED TVs to put it, are LED TVs capable of showing you more vibrant, more refined colours.

QLED TVs used to be a Samsung specific technology, until recently when it was made available for other manufacturers to use through a mutual licensing agreement.

They do this through quantum enabled technology that individually lights up each colour-coded pixel, thus expanding the primary colour base of every pixel & group of pixels.

While this is the primary difference between QLED TVs & LED TVs, the decision to choose between them isn’t always as simple.

In this blog, we bring you a variety of differences between the two LED TVs & which one should you prefer.

  1. LED TVs have brighter visuals.

LED TVs & QLED TVs all have this feature in common. They provide their viewers with liltingly bright visuals. QLED TVs, being very colour sensitive due to specifically colour-encoded pixels, balance out the brightness & contrast ratio of the visuals before presenting them on your screen.

This might not be a very big issue for regular TV watchers, but if your eyes are especially sensitive to brightness or the lack of it, you might notice this subtle difference between the two TVs.

  1. LED TVs have a better response time.

Owing to the simplicity of image processing, LED TVs to have markedly better response time than QLED TVs. Since QLED TVs have a higher number of pixels to process, treating each colour specific pixel differently, they justifiably have larger response time than conventional LED TVs.

Again, this isn’t a very noticeable element, unless of course, you’re a pro gamer who is used to instant reactions, or want to showcase a presentation requiring quick response time.

  1. QLED TVs have better colour quality & motion detailing.

Due to their exceptional colour detailing & pixel saturation, QLED TVs are capable of producing much detailed, refined pictures with outstanding colour handling & motion finesse than conventional LED TVs.

This is primarily because, unlike traditional LED TVs, they use quantum dots as a filter to produce accurate & refined pictures with brilliant colour detailing.

While Samsung only processed earlier QLED TVs, multiple brands offer LED TVs & Online LED TVs to hopeful buyers.

Shinco is one such indigenous TV brand that offers high quality online LED TVs & QLED TVs to buyers at extremely affordable rates.
