Netflix Now Allows to Disable the Autoplay Feature (Here’s How to Do It)

Netflix users have complained about the annoying and irritating feature of autoplay preview for years now. Finally, the company has announced that the subscribers can now disable the autoplay feature. Users can select from 2 different formats to disable autoplay feature: one format will start the other episode of a series automatically and the other one will autoplay previews while browsing. The new setting is related to the autoplay preview on the home screen. There are several YouTube videos, Reddit threads and angry tweets from users who have pushed Netflix to disable the frustrating autoplay feature.

One user was so annoyed that he created the complete Twitter page to inquire Netflix to stop it. It seems as they have heard users’ voice and the company has updated the help page for Netflix subscribers on their website to learn to disable the frustrating feature. The important thing is that you can change this feature through a log in to the Netflix account with the browser and for now there is no other method to do from Netflix app on a tablet, smartphone or television. However, this procedure is very easy and here is how to do it:

How to Disable Auto-Playing Preview of Netflix

The auto-playing feature of Netflix is one of the most frustrating features. As you browse on Netflix to watch something, the previews will automatically start. However, Netflix will now allow you to disable such previews so that you can browse properly.

If you want to disable the auto-playing preview of Netflix, then you can follow the provided steps:

  1. Navigate to the Netflix site in a browser. This feature is accessible through the browser and it is available on every device.
  2. Log in to the Netflix account.
  3. Move the cursor to the Profile tab at the upper right of a page and then tap on Account.
  4. Find the name of the profile below My Profile and then press the Playback settings button.
  5. Untick Autoplay preview when browsing on every devices button.
  6. Press the Save option to save the changes.

Now Netflix is not going to start the next episode as you finished watching. Playback settings are definite to every profile, thus if you have a group of profiles of different people, then you can avail the feature. If you need to disable autoplay previews for each of them, then you need to repeat the same procedure in every profile. Though the company have seen that you may sometimes identify delay as the selected settings to be effective.  To get through this, you need to change the profile on the Netflix account and then return to your account.

Then autoplay will be disabled automatically. As the autoplay is switched off, then you can continue the uncertain scrolling all over the shows and movie options. Now you can now easily select the content without any interruption without worrying about the annoying feature.
