How to differentiate between motion graphics services

Many a times we all get confused as to the type of animation or motion graphics used which further leads to misidentifying a suitable cost for the motion graphics and animation services. Motion graphics are essentially the place where graphic design meets an animation. However they can be used interchangeably in some cases.

The different types of motion graphics are:

  1. Explainer video: These videos take a complex process and break it down into smaller manageable chunks to tell a story. They provide an emotional connect to the brand while providing a story about the service under discussion. This is the most common type of motion graphics and animation services in use at present that captures the audience and engage them in a short story that helps the bottom line.

  1. Product marketing: Though many times this is clubbed with the above type of motion graphics and animation services, but it is about the product while the above category deals with a process or concept. This usually also involves 2D animation services to showcase how to use a product, especially when the product is complex and needs explanations. They are many times a combination of live video and various 2D animation services.

  1. UI animation: This helps provide clarity on the various menus and buttons on a website and many times overlaps with product marketing as it relies on 2D animation services to bring out the clarity. They are generally employed in large scale projects where the developers are sitting all over the globe and need a clear idea of the finished product.

  1. Icons: These are a great way to improve upon a drab interface. Mostly animated icons are free animations easily available on the net but customised icons are made generally as svgs or css animations. They are an easy way to add animations without adding much to the file size.

  2. Films: Short films or the ones for television both fall under this category. They range from simple shapes to detailed characters.

  1. Presentation infographics: Every presentation now has an animated graph or something to emphasise the key point. These are animated info to emphasise important information that you want people to follow. They provide a visually engaging appeal to the content. Software has made life easier and an animation for presentation now can be done in just a few minutes if you know what to click.

  1. Broadcast graphics: These are graphics used by news or sports channels and are meant to cover live shows. We all have come across them in the form of arrows appearing on the cricket field while the commentator is talking about where most runs have been hit by a particular team.

  1. GIFs: These are still by far the most used motion graphics and animation services. They may or may not be animations and it depends on the way you want to use them. They are a cheap and easy way to make your posts stand out above the static ones on a social media platform.
