Cholesterol is produced by the liver and excreted into the intestines in the form of bile; about 50% of this cholesterol is later reabsorbed into the blood stream and returned through the blood to the liver. The liver also regulates the amount of circulating cholesterol by decreasing cholesterol production in response to an elevation in serum cholesterol due to the intake of a diet high in fat.

Are you plagued by the question, "how do you lower triglycerides?" If so, you are not the only one looking for answers. Triglycerides are not bad; in fact, the body itself produces triglycerides. What makes them undesirable is when there are too much of them floating in your system. You can't have more than the normal amount of triglycerides in your body, else you run the risk of developing heart conditions. Coronary artery disease and heart attack are two of these that are likely to result from elevated triglyceride levels.

There could be a number of reasons why triglyceride levels increase. The most common factor stems from an unhealthy lifestyle. If you are especially fond of eating at fast food restaurants and then spend the remainder of the day in bed, you can expect your triglyceride levels to shoot up.

Having said that, following are some solutions to the question, "how do you lower triglycerides?": First, make your own lunch. Buying takeouts or ready-to-eat meals at fast food restaurants can be convenient, indeed, but are you aware of how many liters of oil and grams of preservatives and additives that are used to make your lunch? Tons of them! Making your own lunch would sound more sensible. When making your own lunch, include fish and vegetables, and fruits for deserts, but don't fry them in saturated oil, as much as possible. Just boil them or steam them, or at the very least, stir-fry them using virgin coconut oil. Virgin coconut oil is the oil of choice because of its many health benefits. It's more expensive than your usual cooking oil, but it's the healthier kind of oil. Virgin coconut oil is high in Omega-3 content, so its use is all the more necessary when you have to deal with elevated triglycerides.
