Cheng MU Yang is the founder of Modern Chinese Medicine. He was born in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and raised in a prosperous family. His grandfather was a scholar who traveled a great deal. One of his brothers was a military commander in a foreign territory, while the other brother was a medical physician.
But he did not obtain a liberal education. Actually, as a boy, he also served in the army for about a year Cheng Muyang. He graduated from high school at two and joined the military to become a navigator.
In China, he had served in many naval battles, but was not allowed to become a surgeon since he lacked the liberal education needed by the Chinese government. Rather, he served on the coast, near a bay, where he detected sailors working hard and coming home .
Following two decades of service, he was encouraged to some skilled sailmaker. From that point on, he worked really hard, earning money so he can combine a scholarly institution. But after he attained a doctorate, he discovered the benefits of Chinese medicine and also established a clinic at Guangzhou, in Guangdong Province.
Through his work with Mary Travel, he found that most illnesses were due to the imbalance of qi. These were ascertained through acupuncture, which was a kind of traditional Chinese medicine. Through acupuncture, an individual could bring balance to the system and maintain good health.
The both of them founded the Mary Travel Clinic at Shanghai, which became famous on account of the services that it offered Michael Ching. Cheng finally died at the age of twenty-six.
The practice has been named after Mary Travel, whoever owns the practice. She named itafter her husband. Cheng was said to have told me that she would use the name Mary Travel if she desired, and it did not matter because the practice could still exist.
Cheng Mu Yang is the Creator of Modern Chinese Medicine. He devoted his life to helping others through Chinese healthcare. He introduced acupuncture and Chinese herbal medications to China, and it continues to be a huge influence in modern Chinese medicine.
