What is an ICO?

An Initial Coin Offering (ICO) is the cryptocurrency industry’s equivalent to an Initial Public Offering (IPO). Many business entities prefer ICO for their start-ups because of the multiple benefits involved with it, mainly the higher return possibilities compared to the initial investment.

ICOs act as a way to raise funds, where a company looking to raise money to create a new coin, app, or service launches an ICO. Interested investors can buy into the offering and receive a new cryptocurrency token issued by the company.

These coins are referred to as tokens and are similar to shares of a company sold to investors in an IPO. If the money raised does not meet the minimum funds required by the firm, the money may be returned to the backers and the ICO is deemed unsuccessful.

You should also ask yourself if you really think that your business will actively benefit from an ICO. Basically, after reading this article, you should consult someone who can take a look at your specific idea and tell you if it is a slam dunk or not. If it's not, you might be better off going through safer avenues of funding.

Before that, you must know the insights of every process involved with an ICO, to communicate and develop it, according to your preferences. For that, first, let’s find out what are all the steps involved with an ICO development.

ICOs are a relatively new phenomenon but have quickly become a dominant topic of discussion within the blockchain community. Many view ICO projects as unregulated securities that allow founders to raise an unjustified amount of capital, while others argue it is an innovation in the traditional venture-funding model.

You need to have a clear idea about the motive behind your ICO and the benefits it will provide to the customers, to drive them towards your business. After forming the idea and the structure, you must conduct research on what the existing competitors are offering, to enhance your business and provide unique solutions.
