Tips To Follow While Purchasing A Smartphone

Smartphones are an integral part of our lives and we use them for to fulfil both domestic and professional commitments. Whether it is to shop for groceries, clothes, hold meetings while working from home or store all important data on the cloud storage, we have it all covered by this single digital masterpiece- the smartphone.

However, it is never too easy to pick one amongst the numerous smartphones available in the market. We are here to throw some tips on how to pick a smartphone that effectively serves your purpose.

1. Display/Resolution

If you are someone who regularly streams videos, watches movies, edits videos and photos, you should pick a phone with a display size of 5.5 to 6 inches.

But if you are a regular user who mostly browse, check emails, use social media, then anything between 5-5.5 inches will fit the bill. If a phone's display size is bigger than 6 inches, it gets too bulky and inconvenient to carry around. So, size and resolution are highly dependent on your usage.

2. Processing Power

The processing power of a smartphone varies, based on the User Interface, OS, bloatware and many such factors.

If your smartphone usage is high with lots of video streaming, editing of videos/images, or often use multiple apps at once using the split-screen mode, then choose a phone with processors like Snapdragon 820/821 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 652. They will multitask for you.

Light users can make do with MediaTek processors.

3.Camera

A camera's picture quality is not only defined by its megapixels, but also by other factors such as autofocus, pixel size, aperture and more. A higher number of megapixels only mean that the picture is bigger and can appear crisp and clear when viewed on a smaller screen.

A photo enthusiast can go for a 16MP camera with an aperture value of f/2.0 or lower for instant low-light shots. Whereas any other user can pick a camera with 12MP and an aperture value of f/2.0-f/2.2.

4.Battery

Battery varies based on the level of usage one has. If you often use your smartphone for heavy video streaming, playing games and using multiple apps, go for a 3500mAh battery. But, if you have a normal or a below-normal usage, you can safely go for a 3000mAh battery.

5.OS/UI

User interface and OS versions are also one of the key factors to consider while choosing a smartphone. User interfaces are the interactive hallmarks of smartphones, so they must be designed easily.

You can pick Motorola/ Nexus/ Pixel handsets if you want to have basic and pure Android experience. But if you're looking to sort apps with many features and options, then interfaces like, Samsung Touch Wiard, Eperia are a few that you can try.

However, some smartphones come with apps like bloatware that you seldom use. So, always check with the handset before you pick one.

6.Storage

A considerable portion of your storage is consumed by the pre-installed apps and the OS of your phone. Smartphones with 16GB/32GB/64GB don't house the exact mentioned space. If you prefer keeping lesser number of apps on your mobile, try going for a 32GB smartphone. For those who want to keep more apps, they can go for 64GB or 128GB variants.

You can also go for a 16GB phone by extending storage with a micro SD card.

7.Other Features

Some of the other features like fingerprint sensors and Iris features can also be considered if you are particular about adding security to your important data. Audio speakers and USB jacks are the other two things you can consider for an overall usage without any glitches in operation.

Last thing to note: Don't forget to try out Vodafone's Mobile Shield under the Vodafone RED Postpaid plans to protect your phone against any kind of damage, theft or loss.
