How to Open Two Applications at Same Time on Android’s Split-Screen Mode

When the phone’s screen goes up to 7 inches, then you have a perfect chance to leverage the split-screen mode. This aspect is offered from Android 7.0 and allows you to use two apps at the same time. Using this incredible feature, you can stream movies while playing a game, listen to music while scrolling Facebook, and a lot more.

In this article, we will teach you how you can use two applications on your Android device through the split-screen mode.

Android 9 or Later

If you are using a device running Android version 9 Pie or later, then you need to activate the split-screen mode. Here you have to first visit the Overview menu by tapping on the recent applications button, or you can also swipe up from the base and hold the gestural navigation.

Here you need to locate the first application that you wish to use in the split-screen mode and then tap on the icon that appears on the top of the screen in the impression card. Choose “Split screen” from the prompt.

Slide the first app in the top half of the screen. After that, move to the bottom half and open the second app.  If you do not get the menu, then tap on the back option, or you can also use back gestures, and then choose the application from your Home screen or application drawer to launch the application on the second part of your screen.

 Android 7.0-8.0

If you are operating an old version of Android device the first you need to run both applications in the background that you wish to use in a single screen. Alternatively, you can launch the application one by one.

Now, tap on the “Recent application” option and then drag the first application on the first portion that says “Drag here to use split-screen.”

After dragging and dropping the first app, move to the lower part, and repeat the process for the second app.

There is another method of entering this mode. Just launch the first application and long-press the Recent apps button. The application will automatically move to the first half of the screen.

Enabling the Feature for All Apps

If you have been using this feature for a long time, you must have noticed that some apps do not support split-screen. For such applications, you need to force compliance. Just tweak the settings in the Developer options and enable the split-screen feature.
