Sony’s Amazing Spider-Man Universe is Still Alive

The Amazing Spider-Man movies were awesome, and everyone enjoyed it despite some didn’t. The Amazing Spider-Man shared universe performed pretty well in the beginning when the first movie 2002’s Spider-Man came out starring Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker. This first movie was directed by Sam Raimi, one of the best-known directors in Hollywood. Willem Dafoe is playing as Green Goblin also known as Norman Osborn. This new launch of the live-action Spider-Man movie was epic, and most fans were exotic to see the sequel.

This initial Spider-Man movie has two sequels: The first sequel came out in 2004 and the second released in 2007.  These movies have various live-action supervillains such as VenomDr Octopus, as well as Sandman. Some of these characters were pathetic, but many fans loved most of them.

After that, Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man film series was ended, and a new film series was restarted with Marc Webb’s Spider-Man universe starring Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man also known as Peter Parker. This movie introduced an utterly new supervillain from Marvel comics, “The Lizard.” Many people loved this stronger, faster, and unbeatable character. As this movie was shot in 2012, far later when compared to the previous Sony Spider movies, it has exceptional visuals and CGI effects along with the powerful supervillain. 2012’s Spider-Man was a hit movie, and Sony decided to produce a sequel for it to carry on its fans’ excitement.

Not only a sequel, but Sony also intended to create a shared universe when the Spider-Man’s universe restarted in 2012. With this new version of Spider-Man, the company decided to create a dedicated universe for Spider-Man characters such as the Sinister SixVenom, etc. It is also worth noticing that Sony was trying to contend with Marvel with its shared universe of Spider-Man.

However, Sony’s plan almost failed when The Amazing Spider-Man 2 came out because the movie was so underrated. The storyline and characters were pretty dark, and the movie failed to impress the fans and moviegoers. 2014’ Amazing Spider-Man two simply ended the shared universe plan Sony was making.

The plan was put to complete stop when the Sony and Marvel deal came into existence. With that deal, Marvel Cinematic Universe was now able to create its own new movie for Spider-Man. MCU introduced the Spider-Man character later in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War movie.

Later when MCU released Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017, Sony’s plan to create a shared universe of Spider-Man’s character was completely deceased.

Whatsoever, Sony decided to carry on the shared universe of Spiderman’s characters without including Spider-Man. They planned to create movies that don’t include Spider-Man as a shared universe of Spider-Man despite the Sony-Marvel deal.

The Amazing Spider-Man Shared universe isn’t going as planned by Sony, but the production company has already started direction of the movies, and one movie is already released. 2018 Venom was a hit in theatres, and many Marvel fans and regular moviegoers just loved it. Fans were clamouring about a sequel to the movie because they liked it. They were excited to see Venom once again with a new villain.

Besides Sony Venom, the Spider-Man shared universe has many other projects currently under progress and development. Here are some of these underdeveloped projects:

The Sinister Six: Sony Amazing Spider-Man Shared Universe

Venom together with The Sinister Six was one of the most exciting projects of Sony’s Amazing Spider-Man Shared Universe. Now Venom is already out and becomes one of the popular Marvel movies. The Amazing SpiderMan 2014 film prepared the debut for these six sinister characters.

At the end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie, we saw Harry Osborn sending Gustav Fiers to Oscorp so that he can form a new team for Green Goblin. In that scene, we saw Fiers walking in a lab in the Oscorp building, and there we get a glimpse of various lethal weapons and armours that Spider-Man’s enemies use.  We saw Dr Octopus suit and its tentacles, Vulture’s suit, Rhino’s prototype armour, etc.

The movie also introduced some future plans for the studio for the forthcoming movies. In the end credit scene, we saw designs of weapons and technology utilized in the Rhino’s armour, Doctor Octopus, Vulture, Kraven the Hunter and Mysterio. This scene confirmed that Sony was only wished but also planned to release a movie on The Six Sinister because all of these characters are part of it.

Sony even scheduled The Six Sinister movie for November 2016, but after disappointing by the failure in the box office, they dropped this all. However, after the Sony-Marvel deal, MCU decided to continue Sony’s strategy, and they have portrayed two characters from The Six Sinisters. Vulture and Mysterio, both have portrayed the main villain in Spiderman: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Now, we are waiting to see other members of The Six Sinisters in the forthcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. We are not sure whether MCU will follow Sony’s plan to release every character from The Six Sinister in its movies, but the Sony/Marvel deal could include that plan. This could be a reason MCU used all supervillains for SpiderMan from The Six Sinister.

The Amazing Spider-Man Shared Universe: Still Happening

As told before, some projects of the Amazing Spider-Man Universe didn’t require Spider-Man appearance Such as Venom and others. Venom is released just as it was planned in advance by Sony and it did pretty well in the box office as well. This successful movie opened a portal for Sony Universe of Marvel Characters. Now they have planned several forthcoming titles including Venom: Let There Be CarnageMorbius, etc. The official trailer for Morbius is already out, and fans are looking forward to knowing more about the movie’s plot and characters. Let’s see how Sony directs its forthcoming movies.
