A Guide to Use Picture in Picture Mode in iOS 14

A month ago, Apple had announced the updated version of its operating system, iOS 14 for iPhone users. This upgraded version has a lot of features that it offers to its users. This has given a new level to the iPhone and a fantastic experience for the users. However, its official version might take some time to launch. But currently, the public beta is available to use, and anyone can install it on their iPhones without any difficulty. The features included in iOS 14 are App Library, updated widgets, App Clips, Translate App, and much more than that. Among all the features, there is one function that Apple has added to fulfill the demands of its users. After waiting for this long, the Picture in Picture mode has finally made its way to the iPhone.

Earlier, the company had introduced this feature for iPad in iOS 9, and on the users’ demands, now this feature has been added to the iPhone as well. Have you checked out this fantastic feature yet? Want to know how to enable and use it on your iPhone? If yes, then you have arrived at the right page. Here, in our following article, we are going to tell you everything about this new feature along with the methods to use it on your iPhone. Please go through the full report to have a complete idea.

What is Picture in Picture Mode?

There can be some iPhone users who might not be quite familiar with the Picture in Picture mode. If you are one of them, then here is the complete guide to explain this feature. Picture in Picture is a fantastic functionality that enables you to do multitasking on your iPhone. With this feature, you can watch your favorite videos while performing various other tasks like browsing the web, messaging, or calling a friend, taking a note or anything. It is a fantastic functionality for the situation when you are watching anything on your iPhone, and all of a sudden, an important message arrives in your inbox. Now, reverting to that text is important, but on the other hand, you don’t want to interrupt your binge-watching. Well, by using this feature, you can perform both the tasks at the same time.

PiP mode enables its users to play the videos in the movable and resizable window. If you want to make the video window larger, simply tap on the zoom button. To move the video, point your finger on the video and drag it in the direction you want. Currently, there are fewer apps that support this feature in iOS 14, namely Apple TV, Podcasts, Facetime, Safari, Music App, Amazon Prime Video and Netflix. And now, with discussing this much, it’s time to come straight to the method of using this feature. Let’s see what steps we should take to enable this feature.

Enabling Picture in Picture Mode in iOS 14 on iPhone

To offer you the best experience, the PiP mode in iOS 14 is enabled by default. So, whenever you want to use this feature for watching your favorite videos while doing some other work on your iPhone, you need to follow the steps that are mentioned below. Here are the ways of using this feature:

  • To get started with using the PiP mode, select and open any app that is supported by this function.
  • Tap on the play button now. And after playing the video, go to the full-screen icon that you can find at the bottom of your iPhone screen.
  • Most supported video apps have a PiP button through which you can activate the PiP mode for the video. Tap on the button to enable it. However, the video will automatically be minimized when you go to the home screen of your iPhone.
  • And now, if you want to use any additional apps while streaming the PiP video on your iPhone, start dragging the video to the corners and open the other app that you want to use. Along with it, you can even customize the PiP video and can hide it, if you feel interrupted.
  • If you’re going to resize the video, you can easily do that by using your two fingers. Keep your fingers on the video and pinch in or out to resize or shrink the video.
  • If you want to go back to the full screen of the PiP video, tap on the PiP button that you can see at the top right corner of your screen.
  • To hide the video, swipe the video window to the left or right direction of your screen. Even after hiding the video, you can still have access to the audio of the clip.
  • To unhide the PiP video, you will need to tap on the handle to bring the video back on your screen.
  • If you are done watching the video and want to turn it off, go to the cross “X” button that you can find on the top left corner of the floating video window.
