Beyoncé’s Black in King Features Many, Many Stars!

Beyoncé’s latest venture is a visual album/movie called Black is King. Released on streaming service Disney Plus, the film is a rough remake of 2019’s The Lion King, which featured Beyonce as well. Amidst the current social situation, such an empowering movie goes a long way toward promoting and celebrating black culture from all over the world. The film runs like a series of different music videos where you’ll see various beautiful artists from different parts of our planet coming together to create magic.

We also see Lion King’s franchise favorites such as Simba, Mufasa, Rafiki, Sarabi, Nala, and Scar. The amalgamation of these two worlds was a sight to see. For those who haven’t seen Bey’s 2019 The Lion King, you should check it out. Although Beyoncé and Jay-Z headline the whole thing, there are other artists as well that are brilliant at what they do. Given below is a list of all the artists featured on Black is King.

Beyoncé

The twenty-four-time Grammy winner dedicated this performance and album to her son, Sir. We see her in the beginning as well as the end. She is playing herself in the movie, and like before, you won’t be able to take your eyes off her.

Jay-Z

A complete act by himself, Jay-Z was seen here in ‘Mood 4 Eva’. He has always taken a backseat whenever Bey’s album is coming out and vice versa. Their relationship (ignoring the hiccups) seems like a Disney story in real life.

Rumi and Sir Carter

Blue Ivy’s siblings and younger children of the famous couple, Sir is seen at the end as Beyoncé gives her dedication, and Rumi is seen with her elder sister in “Brown Skin Girl.”

Blue Ivy Carter

Blue is Beyonce’s and JayZ’s firstborn, and is seen here on “Brown Skin Girl.” She won a BET award as well.

Tina Knowles-Lawson

She is Beyoncé’s mother and has a recurring role on the album. You will especially notice her in the background during the garden tea party.

Pharrell Williams

Again, seen in “Water” in Black is King but needs no introduction. The 13-time Grammy winner is a rapper, leader, and icon in American music.

Lupita Nyong’o

Well known for her niche roles in movies like ’12 Years a Slave’ and ‘Black Panther,’ we see her performing “Brown Skin Girl” in ‘Black is King’.

Naomi Campbell

An iconic supermodel from Britain, she is seen here in the “Brown Skin Girl” performance.

Kelly Rowland

Another performer of ‘Brown Skin Girl,’ Rowland was a member of Beyonce’s old band, Destiny’s Child.

Shatta Wale

Hailing from Ghana, Shatta Wale is a singer who is seen on “Already” and is also a Ghanaian singer.

Jessie Reyez

A Canadian musician saw him performing “Scar.”

Salatiel

Seen performing “Water,” Salatiel is from Cameroon and works as a music executive.

Lord Afrixana

A “Don’t Jealous Me” performer, he is another upcoming musician.

She is a model from South Sudan and is a part of the “Brown Skin Girl” performance.

Tiwa Savage

A “Keys to the Kingdom” performer and a musician of Nigerian descent.

Mr Eazi

Nandi Madida

Nandi Madida is a model from South Africa.

Warren Masemola

Warren Masemola is an Actor from South Africa.

Except for these brilliant black artists from all over the globe, we also see cameos from The Lion King members of the cast. We see JD McCrary, who voiced Young Simba, comedian Billy Eichner as Timon and Chiwetel Ejiofor as the scary Scar. If you haven’t already watched this fantastic piece of visual art, get on it right away!
