Divert spam calls
The new iOS 13.6 brings a feature called Silence Unknown Callers that stops unknown callers and spammers. This feature is switched off by default, but you can tweak the settings any time you want. All the calls from unknown numbers cannot be spammers, so the messages from those numbers go to your voicemails, and the robocalls go under the spam section. To enable this feature, follow these steps:
- Go to the Settings app on your device.
- Click on Phone to find a list of options.
- Scroll down the list to find Silence Unknown Callers.
- Switch on the toggle for Silence Unknown Callers.
QuickPath Keyboard
As soon as you install the latest update and start using the keyboard, you will find an alert letting you know that now you can swipe across the keyboard for typing. This feature will help you with one hand typing and show you auto-correct words as you swipe on the keyboard. The feature is enabled by default.
We can assume that the inspiration for the feature must have been drawn from Android devices as the Android users have been using this feature for quite a few years now. As an iOS user, if you are unsatisfied with the feature then you can disable QuickPath using these steps:
- Go to the Settings and click on General.
- Select Keyboard and then tap on Slide to Type.
Shortcut to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth settings
Until now, only Android users had the benefit of checking the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection without going to the settings section. Now, the latest update has brought the same feature to iPhones and iPads. Users won’t have to go to the Settings app anymore.
Change in Home screen edit
When you wanted to delete or remove any app from the home screen of your device, you had to tap and hold to see the app wiggling and drag it to delete. With the latest update, when you tap and hold any app, a list of options will pop-up on the screen. Most of the options will be based on the app, and the Edit Home Screen and Delete Apps option will remain constant. The Edit Home Screen feature will let you rearrange the apps. Whereas, the Delete Apps does exactly what the name suggests.
Photos feature update
You will now get to see a ton of new features on the Photos app. You can organize all the pictures and videos based on days, months, years and all photos on the app. You can also divide them into different time frames. You can also edit your photos and videos from the default editing tools on the Photos app. The video editing tool is smart enough to replace any additional app that you may have for the same purpose.
Find My feature
The new update combines Find My iPhone and Find My Friends feature in the new app called Find My. They added a new feature that alerts Apple users about the lost device. When someone marks their Phone as ‘lost,’ Apple will crowdsource the device’s location and ask all the Apple devices to search for the lost one using the Bluetooth signal. You will receive an alert if someone finds your device. This lost and found service is entirely encrypted, and the identities are also kept anonymous for additional security.
