Are Yoga Classes Or Rest Days Better For Recovery?

We understand that you want to attend Northern Beaches yoga classes in New South Wales throughout the week. However, if you never give yourself a break – both mentally and physically, you are setting yourself up to fail. After completing a full range of yoga poses and exercises, your muscles break down. This means that your muscles and joints will build up stronger over the next two days.

But completing the same exercises day in day out without resting causes you to experience increased muscle soreness, difficulty sleeping, a suppressed immune system and a decrease in the ability to perform well at work. While rest days may be glorious, we know how hard it can be to sign up and take another yoga class after relaxing. Instead of skipping your classes, you can try a breathing session.

Rest day

After yoga lessons, everyone needs a rest day. The type of rest you take will depend on your training load. For new people in yoga, you should have a rest day after every third day. This way, you will exercise for two days and rest on the third day. If you are an experienced yogi, you can fit in a rest day once a week.

What should rest days look like?

While sitting on your couch the whole day watching movies sounds enjoyable, life does not always work that way. You need to give your dog a walk, your friend wants to take you out, and you need to cook some food for the family or yourself. If you are pushing yourself daily with yoga poses, a casual walk will be a rest day to you.

If you want your Northern Beaches yoga to be effective in New South Wales, your rest days do not need to include sedentary activities. You would use your free day and focus on your health. This could include stretching, preparing meals and more.
