Attachment disorders may develop in people who did not receive adequate care growing up. Infants and young children rely on parents or caregivers to meet their emotional and physical needs. When these needs are not met, the child does not develop a healthy bond with the parent/caregiver. Thus, they don’t learn how to regulate emotions, how to love or trust others, or how to recognize the feelings of others.
