There's always a dark end of everything that we use and consume in our everyday life. In today's digital age, where the Internet and smartphones come with endless benefits and entertainment, at the same time, these virtual devils are making us isolated from our physical existence. Despite all the infinite advantages of the Internet and technology, we as a parent need to understand that access to everything can cause harm. In today's article, we would discuss how smartphones are endowing toxicity in your child's mind.

Being part of one of the best Indian schools in Sharjah, I experienced the importance of having real-life connections that are now satellite friends. Here's my take on this issue, that how to make your child rid of smartphone addiction.

Here we have compiled some powerful tips that will help your kid to cope up with smartphone addiction.

Communication can cool conflicts.

Aggression fuel aggression, phone addiction is somewhat similar to alcohol addiction. It has more adverse effects on the child's mind that can trigger depression, overthinking, and restlessness. A harsh No when your kid asks for a phone will make things worse in the broadest sense! Don't expect them to say, "okay, mom". Instead, talk it out, explain to them why can't they have a phone.

Make some rules to limit their screen time such as:-

  • No smartphones during dinner
  • Turn off smartphones before 90 minutes of bedtime.
  • No homework means no smartphones.

This is the best way to make children learn about what's more important than a smartphone in their lives.

Limit their screen time

Create conditions with your child to reduce their screen time. Like," you can see only one episode or scroll Facebook for one hour". Nowadays, children are glued to a smartphone that makes their childhood limited to a virtual screen. At home with no physical activity are hindering their mental and physical growth and pushing them on the edge of depression.

Take your kids outdoor.

Encourage your kids in outdoor activities or a family trip to a museum, concert, or an art gallery would be perfect for making your child realize that the world is flooded with a myriad of exciting things that your smartphones can't give.

Thought of a day

The Internet could be an ocean of information or a tank of negativity; it depends on how your child uses it. If next time you see your child watching something informative on the Internet, let them make the best out of it.
