Choosing A Private School During a Pandemic – Three Things to Keep in Mind

Your child is ready to go to school or start a new school year. The problem is, there is a pandemic due to the coronavirus, and that can bring some challenges. Some schools may be reopening while some remain closed because of COVID-19, and the last thing you want to happen is for your child to get sick. In that case, you might want to consider a private school along with these factors that can help you choose the right learning institution where your child can be healthy, safe, and secure.

  1. Location – Choose a private schoolthat is easy to reach from home or your workplace. That way, you can easily drop off and pick-up your child by yourself. If your child is older and can already get to and from school on their own, make sure that there are safe public transportation routes and consider the distance to walk or bike to school.
  2. School size – Social distancing is still being practised because of the COVID-19 pandemic. After all, it’s one way to help minimize the chances of people from catching the coronavirus. It is important to consider the size of the school and the number of students in each class. Some private schools have a smaller population of students and reduced class sizes to allow educators to give each learner one-on-one attention. With a smaller class size, it will be easier for students and teachers to observe social distancing.
  3. Safety protocols – Make sure that the private schoolis following government-mandated safety. That way, you can be sure that the school community members can be healthy and safe on campus. Check if the school also offers online learning as an alternative, as some private schools do, and they can cater to parents who might not want to send their kids back to school during the pandemic.

A good private school will offer its full range of programs during the pandemic. You and your child must also be willing to follow health and safety protocols to prevent the coronavirus spread.
