OUAC Guidance – Conquering College Admissions in Today's Competitive World

When you plan to go to any Ontario University, you will have to go through the Ontario University Applications Centre (OUAC). OUAC is in charge of the centralized processing of applications for undergraduate admissions to local universities. The process may be daunting, as you might have other concerns to worry about, such as studying for entrance exams and your academic responsibilities. However, you can always consider seeking OUAC guidance to gain more confidence and ease your college admission worries.

To get started with OUAC, you will need to ensure that you meet all critical requirements before making an account on their website. The deadline for applications can depend on the program you are applying to and whether you are still in high school, or you have already finished. OUAC guidance can help you prepare and meet the requirements such as:

  • You are under 21 years old.
  • You're enrolled at a high school in Ontario and taking courses during the day. This includes graduate students returning to upgrade one or more courses, and students returning for their second semester.
  • You have not been out of high school for over seven consecutive months.
  • You will be receiving, or you're expecting to receive your OSSD (Ontario Secondary School Diploma) with six 4U/M courses at the end of this current year.
  • You're applying to the first year of a diploma program or undergraduate degree program at an Ontario University.
  • You haven't attended any post-secondary institution (college, career college, or university).

Through OUAC guidance, you should learn and understand how you can complete the first step to college admissions. It's important to know that OUAC is not making admission decisions, which is the universities' responsibility.

OUAC guidance is provided by guidance counsellors and staff from education boards and secondary schools in Ontario. Those professionals can help you choose the university where you want to guide you through the application process. Browse the programs to note your choices and their respective OUAC codes and know all the admission requirements and deadlines specific to the program. You should also review the 105 application guide on OUAC's website.
