It is a time of the year when the season starts decorating houses, carving pumpkins, and watching classic Halloween movies. There are plenty of films to celebrate the spooky time, including Halloween, Hocus Pocus, and Get Out. In this article, we will try to list down some great horror movies to spend your Halloween spooky!

Hocus Pocus (1993)

Hocus Pocus is a fantasy comedy movie written by Mick Garris and Neil Cuthbert and directed by Kenny Ortega. It stars Kathy Najimy, Bette Midler, Omri Katz, Sarah Jessica Parker, Vinessa Shaw, and Thora Birch. Hocus Pocus released on 16 July 1993 in the United States by Walt Disney Pictures. The movie got mixed reviews from critics and did not do well at the box office either. However, after airing on Freeform and Disney Channel, audiences rediscover the film and make it a cult classic. Filmmaker Adam Shankman then created a sequel in development as Disney+ exclusive film, screenplay written by Jen D’Angelo.

The plot of the screenplay is based on Salem, Massachusetts in 1693 and revolves around Thackery’s little sister, Emily, spirited away to a cottage of three witches. The Sanderson sisters, Sarah, Winifred, and Mary cast a spell on Emily to absorb her youth to regain their own by killing her in the process. Thackery confronts the witches, and in return, they transform him into an immortal black cat. The spellbook of Winifred casts a curse during the full moon on All Hallows’ Eve when a virgin lights the Black Flame Candle. And the movie grows as the black-cat companions destroy the watches before they suck the life of Salem’s children.

The movie gains extra points for Sarah Jessica Parker’s and Bette Midler’s acting performances.
