Creating Custom Holiday Packaging: What You Need To Know

Holidays can be marketing bonanzas for a business specializing in foods, supplements and other consumables. As retailers pack displays and isles with products, you need to consider how your custom mylar pouches can stand out among the colorful, graphically-dense items on the shelves. Undoubtedly, how you package your goods  plays a central role in your sales. Preparing for any holiday, you can use the following approaches for packaging your select and  gourmet foods to pull customers in.

Focus on Holiday Hues

In the consumer’s mind, certain colors ring true to the spirit of each holiday, such as these combinations: red and green for Christmas; pink and red for Valentine’s Day; blue and white for Hanukkah; black, red and green for Kwanzaa; and orange and black for autumn celebrations. Minimally, your packaging should incorporate these traditional schemes for their associative effect. However, if your branding is hip or contemporary in some form, look to expand the boundaries as appropriate. Here you can look at other products for inspiration. The caveat to this choice is that you ideally incorporate these colors with those specific to your brand.

Offer Packaging for a Wide-Ranging Audience

Wherever possible, design your containers with a broad audience in mind. Thematically, you may consider including nondenominational images alongside religious ones, if appropriate. Unless you must target a specific age group, try to include graphics that are neither childish nor adult-focused, though they can definitely be playful and fun. Conversely, you may choose to package the same product in different wrappings for different audiences, but this option will increase your production costs. Also, be culturally and socially sensitive in your use of terminology and imagery so as not to unintentionally push away groups of people

Think Social Media

In relation to the audience, also think about packaging that begs to be shared online. Those colorful holiday images should be eye-popping but tasteful so that people want to take pictures and share on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and other far-reaching social media platforms. Further focus your holiday imagery to match your target audience, whether the effect embraces a contemporary or more traditional look. This strategy is especially for relevant for promoting gourmet food pouches such as coffee beans packaging bags.

Promote Family Friendliness

Holidays are busy times. Customers will appreciate safe, responsible and frustration-free packaging, especially when children are in the mix. Label your packages to promote any number of positive virtues. Using wholesale child resistant bags that are clearly food-safe will give parents peace of mind. Packaging sustainably, such as using recyclable or post-recycling materials, lets you speak to an environmentally-conscience audience but does not make your product exclusive to that clientele. Finally, free-standing pouches and other containers with smooth-opening capabilities should direct customers to consider your brand for repeat and alternative purchases.

For some manufacturers, holidays can make or break your year. At these times, consumers can spend hours looking at displays or through online images for the most visually-appealing
