Pop culture icon Gal Gadot who has been known for starring as a titular character in the film Wonder Woman has signed another project in which she will be teaming once again with Patty Jenkins.

Gadot will portray the role of a historical Egyptian female ruler Cleopatra. Gadot confirmed the news on Twitter and said that she is teaming up with Patty Jenkins to relay the story of an Egyptian female ruler Cleopatra in a way that has never been done before. She said that this is the first time that the story of Cleopatra will be told through a woman’s eyes, “both behind and in front of the camera.”

Social Justice Warriors (SJW) started bashing her and the entire casting team on Twitter for selecting her as they believe an Israeli woman should not play the role of an Egyptian queen. Seeing Gal Gadot trending on Twitter, several historians came out and tweeted against the backlash, saying that the protestors should check their history books because, in their knowledge, Cleopatra was a Macedonian Greek.

The backlash on Twitter is an everyday habit of people who desire to bring a change through social media, but they sometimes overdo it, like in the case of Scarlett Johansson, who faced the wrath of SJWs when she was selected to play the role of a queer female. The backlash ultimately forced Johansson to give up on that role. People had also bashed Bryan Cranston when he was about to play a quadriplegic in the film “The Upside.” However, unlike Johansson, he kept his stance and played that role perfectly.

Nothing can be drawn out as a conclusion from Twitter; most of the opinions there are strong, but the people are often mistaken.

Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot are still awaiting the release of their film Wonder Woman 1984, which is suffering from delay issues. The film was due to come out last December as a part of DC’s effort to accumulate on the cathartic emotions left by Jason Momoa’s gigantic 2018 Christmas time success “Aquaman.” However, due to the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the film was delayed to avoid unnecessary competition.

It was slated to release in June, imitating the scenario of the first film, but, due to the lockdown, it had to be postponed to August 2020 before it was shifted to October, and now ultimately, it has been pushed to December the 25th, 2020 shifting another Warner Bros. high budgeted film “Dune” to October 2021.

Fans are passionately waiting for the release of the “Wonder Woman” sequel as they hope it can add more jewels to the DC’s amazing run since 2018. Things were looking quite depressing for the DC after Justice League, but James Wan’s Aquaman started a rebuilding process that was upheaved by Shazam and 2019 colossal success Joker, which also saw Joaquin Phoenix being awarded an Academy Award in the Best Actor category

However, it is imperative to understand that before Aquaman, Wonder Woman was the only film ever in the DCEU that was critically raved.

Gal Gadot’s upcoming projects are Death on the Nile, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, and Red Notice.
