A Tom Holland Film that You Might Not Have Watched

A long-forgotten movie starring Tom Holland is trending on Netflix today.

Have you ever wondered how Tom Holland got the role of MCU’s Spiderman even though he had a long list of well-established actors to compete with? One reason for it is that Tom Holland was already a young talent climbing up, and he wasn’t entirely difficult to spot. His English fans do not always associate him with Spiderman because he had already proven himself on stage in several different roles before his coveted role of Spiderman. Since his childhood, he has been an actor and has innumerable theater performances to show for himself, but his breakthrough performance came in the disaster biopic “The Impossible.”

It has been only a month since the arrival of the film on Netflix, but it has quickly found the numbers and is currently sitting at the ninth spot in the top 10 list of most-watched content in the United States.

If you haven’t seen the film or even heard of it, you need to do it as soon as possible not only to witness Tom Holland in an eye-catching role but also to view an overall exceptional piece of cinema. The film is directed by J.A. Bayona  (famous for making Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom). The film is based on a true story of a family on vacation in Indonesia which gets trapped in the strangling of a devastating 2004 tsunami.  The film’s protagonists, a couple played by Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts, get separated. The film shows them struggling to save themselves and their children as they attempt to reunite.

The melodramatic film was a recipient of huge International acclaim, which even led to Naomi Watts receiving a Best Actress award at the 2013 Academy Awards. The film is a hit at Rotten Tomatoes and has secured an 81% rating since the time of its release. The critics of the website have termed the film as something that impresses with its direction and acting but has a weak screenplay at the heart of it. However, considering it is based on a real-life incident, “Impossible” is a worthy film to give it a watch.

Despite being a critical and box office success in 2012, the film had disappeared for a while before it ultimately emerged on Netflix. In case you have watched the film, and now you are wondering why Tom Holland is looking like a kid, then I must tell you that the film was shot in 2010 (excluding the fact that he still looks like a kid).

The film’s availability on Netflix will further prove to the worldwide audience how versatile of an actor he is.

Holland has also impressed in an otherwise underwhelming Antonio Campos harrowing drama “Devil All the Time.” He played the role of the protagonist, a son of a character played by Bill Skarsgard, who suffers from the crimes that occur in his hometown Knockemstiff. He tries to make sense of everything before eventually having enough of it.

He stars alongside Robert Pattinson, who plays the antagonist character of a morally corrupt and loathsome preacher.
