Graduation is perhaps one of the most important times in the life of a student. This is because you are standing at the cusp of an important phase where your academic education is giving way to professional careers. For every student, the culmination of this journey is marked by the sombre and yet nostalgia infused – Convocation Day.

This year on November 21, 2020, KIIT Deemed to be University hosted its 16th Annual Convocation Day. In its 17-year long lifespan, the University has seen numerous batches of exemplary students walk out of its threshold. These students are passing from the corridors of this great institution and veering out into the outside world with the promise to uphold and live by the code of excellence that is signature of the institution.

From its 25-year-old humble beginnings with seed money of merely Rs. 5,000 in the year 1992 to its modern sprawling campus housing 28 different schools, the institution has indeed carved its unique niche in the educational sphere.

The University acquired the Deemed to Be University status in 2004. Since then, numerous scholars and notable alumni of the institution such as Dutee Chand and many more have gone on to represent the nation at the highest level. The quality of the students that graduate the institution's graduate, post-graduate, doctoral and post-doctoral courses can be evidenced from the fact that they have made not only their University proud but also on numerous occasions brought pride to the nation too.

It is this commitment towards excellence that has led this relatively young institution, secure the 'Institution of Eminence' status from the Government of India and many other laurels. The students that graduate this day boast some of the most noteworthy academic achievements and are leaders in their own right.

Given the pandemic situation, the University is currently underway to host its first-ever convocation through video conferencing and other virtual means. This is a testimonial of the institution's commitment to strive for excellence and to ensure that the learning curve is never flat lined.

In modern times we need more such institutes like KIIT that have helped us realize that the future belongs to the bright minds of today. These leaders and innovators need to be shaped to become the torchbearers of our race.
