Is This A Plumbing Emergency?

Plumbing problems are just a fact of life. They can happen to anyone. It doesn't matter if you're a residential or commercial person; leaks, clogs, and other issues may arise. But how do you know when it's considered an emergency? Is it justifiable to call your plumber and incur extra charges for services? Can you wait till the next day? While many of these things are a personal feeling and whether or not you are comfortable waiting, often repairs should be put as a priority.

Clogs

Depending on your comfort level, a clog may or may not be considered an emergency. For those that only have one bathroom in their home, having a clogged toilet is possibly a no-go. In these situations, a plumber can often resolve a clog quite quickly, restoring function to your home's plumbing.

Leaks

Leaks can be annoying. They can also be damaging. If you find that your home has a dripping faucet, while it is something that needs to be addressed, it doesn't always have to be done so after hours. Instead, this situation can wait till the next business day. However, if you have a basement leak that is pouring in water, this is a different story. Those that could damage your property should be called about sooner rather than later.

Remodels?

A home remodel is a prime example of a non-emergency plumbing situation. These should be done during normal business hours and scheduled. While it might seem imperative to have your shower or sink replaced in the middle of the night, we can all get a little impatient at times; it simply doesn't warrant calling your local plumber for service.

Burst Pipe

A burst pipe is a cause for concern. Water running into your home, whether it be from the water main (clean water) or the drain lines ( wastewater), the damage can be significant. Even an inch of water can cause mold and other concerns to occur. If a burst pipe happens at your home, contact the plumber immediately. If you know how and where the water shut off to your home is, you should turn off the water quickly. The main water shut off differs from the shutoffs underneath your sink or behind the toilet. These shutoff valves are for that fixture only and won't stop a burst pipe further down the line.

When you have a plumbing issue that you can't resolve on your own, contacting an emergency plumber fairfield is the best option. Not only can you have the problem fixed in no time, but you'll have the peace of mind it won't return.
