Five Secure Ways To Login Into Facebook

In the last decade or so social media platforms such as Facebook have become an integral part of our lives. Can you imagine not logging in to your account and scrolling through your friends and frenemies feeds? It has become an addiction, hasn't it?

Facebook has evolved into more than just a mere communication channel now, by becoming a source of daily news, updates on your favorite brands, as well as an advertising platform.

As users, we can access our accounts from all over the world thanks to mobile apps. As consumers, we need to make sure we have a secure Facebook login to avoid identity theft.

Below I'm listing secure ways to login to Facebook so you can spend hours on social media without worrying about hackers.

How To Create A Secure Login For A Facebook Account

Double Verification Process

One of the first things you need to do is set up a double verification, or Login Approvals which achieve the security level you wish to attain. This might sound like a hassle, but it's a game-changer for those who are serious about online security.

Every time you access your account, Facebook will send you a freshly generated code via SMS to enter to finish the login process. This secure Facebook login approval will enable you to have greater control over who can access your account.

Trusted Contacts

To have a secure Facebook login, you can also pick trusted contacts from your list. This list should be small and restricted to four or five people at the most. Why do you need this list?

Facebook can contact your trusted contacts in case your account gets blocked for some reason.

If such a circumstance does arise, then your trusted contact can access a code that will be passed on to you so that you can restore your account's credentials.

For this purpose, it is wise to choose a person who you trust blindly and are close to. To pick trusted contacts from your friend's list go to Settings -> Security and select friends.

Login Alerts

A lot of the time people looking down on adding login alerts to their Facebook account. I was one of these ignorant people, and then the unthinkable happened, my Facebook account was compromised.

After changing my password, one of the first things I did was to create login alerts. So now, whenever Facebook suspects a suspicious login attempt to my account; for example, from an unknown computer, or mobile, it sends a notification via email or SMS.

You can easily select which format is the most suitable for you. In case you suspect that someone tried to hack your account, Facebook will provide the assistance to reset your password and set up a stronger one. Just like all other safety settings, you will find login alerts in the Security section as well.

Phishing & Spamming

Cyber crooks try to steal personal data and password, by generating URLs which look almost identical to Facebook. It's important to keep in mind that the social platform giant will never email you, asking for your credentials or any other financial or personal. If you do receive such an email, redirecting you to a website remarkably resembling Facebook, never enter your personal information.

Malicious Apps

Haven't we all been bombarded with requests for various "farm games" by our friends? It is possible that our friends become victims of malicious apps, and the invitations were sent without their consent. These apps can post on their behalf, and that too without their knowledge, and spread malware even further. Facebook now gives its users the opportunity to report such apps.
