The Truth about Organic Skin Care Products

Without a doubt, "organic" is a real buzz word these days when it comes to products of all kinds. Oddly, the meaning of the word varies and what are called organic skin care products may not be what you think at all. The bottom line is, the "organic" designation on the label is fine, but there is more to good skin care products than simply being organic.

Another word often used in association with organic is "natural." Again, the literal meaning can vary. When shopping for natural, organic skin care products, the consumer wants products that include ingredients that are 1) derived from nature, 2) produced in a way that is not hard on the environment, and 3) healthful and effective. Either word can be used, however, on products that do not meet these requirements. Private Label Natural Cosmetics

Let's look at each supposition in light of how important it is in finding a healthful, effective skin formula. First, are the ingredients in the organic skin care products derived from nature? If you think about it, virtually everything is!

The question consumers are wondering is, how much fooling around in the laboratory was necessary to get the ingredient into its current condition? Is it like shea butter simply squeezed from a seed? (Preferably an organically grown seed?)

A better question would be, were sensible, safe methods used in the laboratory, and was the derivative scientifically proven to work? Think about it. If cucumbers and honey in their natural state could remove wrinkles, we'd all look young! private label natural hair products

Here's an example of a naturally derived ingredient that makes organic skin care products work. Coenzyme Q-10 is a powerful antioxidant found in many natural substances. In the lab, however, researchers have developed a nano-emulsion version that is readily absorbed into the skin. Plain CoQ-10 found in most organic skin care formulas simply stays on the skin. In this case, the extra work in the lab makes the difference!

Second, consumers want to know how environmentally responsible their company is when they choose organic skin care products. One thing you can do to see if the company in question cares about safety and common sense, is to find out if they have signed the Compact for Safe Cosmetics. This is an agreement to only use ingredients proven to be safe.

Finally, does the product work? It doesn't matter if it is natural and organic if it is a waste of your money. An ethical company will spend enough on research and development that they will find the natural substances that make organic skin care formulas effective, and then they will include those products in large enough percentages to do some good. private label organic cosmetics

For instance, a manufacturer can take water, make it into a tea with an organic green tea bag, and use it as a major ingredient. Actually, the percentage of green tea is pretty tiny when you consider it has been diluted by the water! Some products touted as natural and organic consist of over 50 percent water!

So to sum it all up, organic skin care is a nice idea, but finding effective natural products is a bit more complicated than just looking for the word "organic" on the label. Do your research and you assure yourself of finding creams and lotions that will provide results that you will be delighted with.
