Work from anywhere to improve the Ease of doing business

To improve the ease of doing business qualitatively of the IT sector especially BPO or Business Process Outsourcing and IT-enabled services, the Government of India has simplified the OSP or Other service provider regulations of the Department of Telecom. The new rules have helped to reduce the compliance burden of the business process outsourcing sector.

 

It is clear that the registration need for other service providers has been done away with altogether and the Business process outsourcing sector engaged in information-related work has been taking out from the other service provider rules. Also, the need for the deposit of bank guarantees, frequent reporting obligations, static IPs, penal provisions, and publication of network diagrams have been remove from the rules.

Several other needs, which prevent organizations from adopting the work from home option and Work from Anywhere policy are also removed. And, additional dispensations to promote flexibility for the industry are permitted.

The new rules will provide a strong impetus to India's industry and make India one of the competitive IT hub in the world. The new rules are inspired by Prime Minister Modi's strong emphasis on Maximum Governance, Minimum Government.

India's IT sector is a source of pride for our country and the new rules are aimed at removing unnecessary bureaucratic limitations to allow the sector to concentrate on innovative new products as well as solutions.

With this reform, the Government of India sends out a strong message to the IT industry intending to increase investment. The change will certainly unleash the potential of our talented youth of the country by making India a preferred hub for information as well as knowledge outsourcing sector and would further the vision of AtmaNirbhar Bharat.

The reform will:

· Reduce infrastructure costs

· Generate more employment

· Flexibility to workforce thereby improving their productivity

The move is welcomed by the IT sector. It is truly progressive thinking for the long run by the government that will turn the IT industry more competitive working from anywhere has become the reality says, Wipro Chairman, Rishad Premji.

President and COO of Cyient, Karthikeyan Natarajan says, the liberalized rules will help organizations better plan their customer delivery schedules, agents and generate employment in tier-2 and tier-3 cities. The move is much needed as the COVID19 outbreak may be a reality for the next 2 years.

Nasscom, IT sector body said that it is a landmark decision and the new rule will reduce the compliance burden of the Business process management sector. Access to work from anywhere will give IT sector an epic boost and expand access to increase job creation, innovation, talent, by making India a global tech hub.
