Microsoft has delivered a surprise announcement to show off at CES 2021. The tech giant has announced the Surface Pro 7+ with a few key updates, including removable SSD storage, a bigger battery, and LTE connectivity. Point to be noted that the new Surface Pro 7+ will only be available to education and business customers. The removable SSD storage is supposedly the most unique advancement from Microsoft. The company says it’s designed as a security feature for commercial organizations that may have specific data retention standards. LTE is a pretty straightforward addition, but it’s limited to the fan-less Core i5 configuration. The LTE model works with both physical SIM cards and eSIM. Microsoft claims it should work in at least 180 countries.

The Surface Pro 7+ has the biggest battery in a Surface to date. It boasts up to 15-hours of battery life from a single charge. It is managed by using the thinner display first featured in the Surface Pro X. Some other improvements include a redesigned internal thermal system with larger vents. The Surface Pro 7+ got a processor upgrade with Intel’s 11-generation Tiger Lake processors in Core i3, i5, and i7 configurations. It is noteworthy that the i7 model is the only one that needs a fan, so the other models should be nice and quiet. A tech website reported that it’ll start at $899 with a Core i3 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. You can also get 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage into the i7 Surface Pro 7+ and it will cost you $2,799. There are plenty of models including the lone LTE model, which starts at $1,149.

The Surface Pro 7+ also features optional LTE Advanced to facilitate more flexible working, a removable SSD to give users more control over their data, and support for the latest Wi-Fi 6 standard. The new device will ship with Windows 10 Pro, equipping the laptop-tablet-hybrid with Microsoft 365 Apps and a 30-day free trial to Microsoft 365 Business Standard or Microsoft 365 Business Premium. The Surface Pro 7+ for Business ships with the same 12.3-inch PixelSense display as its predecessor. You’ll also find both a 5MP front camera and 8MP rear camera for high-quality video calls, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, and both USB-A & USB-C ports. The Surface Pro 7+ for Business will be available in Platinum and Matte Black options.
