CDN is the abbreviation of Content Delivery Network or Content Distribution Network. CDN has always being the main point of research for the researchers of related issues in the field of ContentDelivery and Distribution. CDN can be referred to a system of computers which are interconnected on the internet. CDN which has interconnected network of computer systems contains copies of data, placed at various points in a network so as to maximize bandwidth for access to the data from clients throughout the network.

CDN can also be said as the process of delivering the content to the various servers by the way of duplication. In CDN the computers connected on Internet delivers the Web content to different users or machines by duplicating the content on multiple server and directing the content to users based on proximity.

CDNs or Content Disdribution Networks are basically used by the Internet Service Providers (ISPs). The basic pupopse of the CDN is to deliver static or dynamic content/web pages. In this, the client copies the data by accessing the nearest server rather then accessing the same central server, so as to avoid bottlenecks near that server.

In CDN the content is replicated on the servers, means contents do exist in multiple copies on the server in a strategical way. When there is a need of the same content from different users a CDN can have thousands of servers to fulfill it. CDN makes it possible to provide identical content to many users efficiently and reliably even at times of maximum Internet traffic.
