Pipe walls can even be permanently damaged by high pressures from too many streams at once. This type of damage can require expensive pipe repairs and may even mean that the pipe needs to be replaced entirely.

There are also some drawbacks to using either method, including possible safety risks. High-pressure pump machines tend to be quite dangerous if they are used incorrectly. For example, inexperienced users can quickly become injured if using the wrong nozzle on a high-pressure pump. Also, both methods involve the use of extremely high temperatures. If using the machine without proper safety precautions, a homeowner could easily sustain serious burns or electrocution.
